I liked it when the ship design team was six old people sitting in a board room with the scotch nearby.

Then, they added an Engineer, a Cook, and a Housekeeper. Still all good.

Then, the Cruise Director, a Doctor, and a Salesperson. Still all good. Mostly.

Then, three kids of the CEO, an aspiring Disco Dancer, and an Artsy-Fartsy person. OK, but pushing it a little.

BUT when the bean counters came into the design team - that pushed us over the edge!!!

From what I understand, Royal has come right out and said that they purposely did that for the larger ships so that you couldn't fit everything into one cruise.

I spoke to a few people about her (Icon OTS). One of our friends can't wait to board, while others (like my wife and I) think she's way too big to get around. I'm sure younger people will appreciate all of the amenities that ship will offer, but it would take too much out of us to walk from venue to venue. You'd probably have to take at least 2-3 cruises to see and discover everything on a ship that large (maybe that's the idea, in addition to the economies of scale).

The smaller the better for us. CCL Spirit Class is currently our favorite. They're a bit dated, but we find them to be the right size for us. We're not worn out by late afternoon. Once they're gone we'll probably look at the Conquest class. We were on the Magic last year. Beautiful ship, but like Privateer43, it was just a bit too big for our liking.

Anyway, hope you have a great time.

Ditto...I preferred the Fantasy class ships of CCL. I went on the Conquest not too long ago and it wasn't bad. The Magic however was pushing the limit for me.

I'm not a fan of the new larger ships the cruise lines are building. But many people like them. Hope it's what you will enjoy.

She looks a bit too big for my tastes. We are ok with Anthem oS and the NCL Breakaway classes, they all handle about 4000 passengers but not a fan of anything larger. We actually lreally like the smaller older NCL ships.
