GALVESTON MOTELS

Heading back to Galveston next year for the "great CCL experiment"...(after we give NCL a lot more of our dough)...we've been there b4, and stayed at the Quality Inn...and parked at the port. Looking for suggestions from folks who've stayed over and left their car at wherever they stayed, and shuttled or cabbed to the port. Free breakfast is a plus, but not a deal breaker. Anybody?

Definitely decent suggestions. Thanks.

We stayed at the Galveston Inn. A bit away from the "fun stuff" but only about $15 Uber ride and included breakfast. Ran us about $125 for a pretty nice room in June.

Thanks for the effort...its appreciated...will start fiddling...….

I'm not sure what happened. I created a lengthy post with specific references to specific hotels. It shows the response in the number of responses, but doesn't appear in the list. I used both bold and a link, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyway, here's what I can recreate of the original:

There are a number of hotels that offer stay and park packages, so if you're trying to save money, that's probably a good option. Google "Galveston hotels with cruise park and shuttle" a great link will follow the paid ads.

Other hotels that are worthy of note:

The Tremont House--This is a fine historic hotel in the strand shopping and entertainment district within walking distance of the cruise port.

Hotel Galvez and Spa--This is a recently remodeled, historic resort with fantastic grounds and view of the ocean. It is about 2 miles from the port

San Luis--Largest luxury resort on the island with a great pool area. Great view of the ocean.

Harbor House at pier 21--This hotel is fairly new and adjacent to the Texas Seaport Museum, Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig Museum. 2 blocks to the port and 2 blocks to the Strand

If you want to try something different, The Boardwalk Hotel in Kemah is 30 miles away but in the heart of the Kemah Boardwalk, which has fine dining, amusement rides, a midway and shopping. It's just down the street from Space Center Houston, so it offers a lot to do.

STEVERK...got an email notification of your post, and some of the text, but when I clicked on it its not "in here". But I get the gist of it.. We have stayed in GALVESTON a couple of times...at the QUALITY INN..as I posted...looking for something better, mebbe covered parking if there is such a thing. Mebbe a shuttle, y'know, the ol "park n cruise" thing...but I see where you live close by, so I understand you really have no need. $$ really isn't an issue, considering you can subtract the cost of parking at the pier itself.

NOOOOOOOOO....grew up there, worked there and NJ...when I retired almost 20 years ago, sold out and escaped. I live in the OZARKS....deep...best thing we ever did...only 2 neighbors within a mile...Sheriff needs a GPS to find us....and not a Yankee anydayummwhere...we usually drive to NO..not NY...hehehehe

I think, you mentioned Galveston before and that you drive there to cruise. I had the idea you lived in or around New York. Do you drive all that way to cruise? Wow
