Dining by myself on Anthem of the Seas

I took my family on a wonderful cruise to Bahamas last November. The highlight of each day was dining in the Grande (main dining room) and talking about the day with my daughter and grandchildren.

There was a solitary diner who sat at a table close by; and I wondered what other options there would be on a large cruise ship to enjoy a dinner with other single diners.

I am traveling on Jan. 6th cruise to the South Caribbean and would love to meet some fellow travelers.

My husband and I asked for a table for 2 on our cruises, and the tables are so close together that we were able to visit with people next to us. On the first night of the 2nd cruise, we started chatting with the couple sitting at the next table, and next month we are heading out on our 3rd cruise with them. Great friendships are formed by just saying “ hello, how was your day? “ Happy

I cruise solo a lot , I just go to the Buffet

I have traveled Solo on Carnival and they seat the solo travelers together at a MDR table so your not seated with a family of 5 at a table for 6. That is with assigned seating... for any time dining you can ask to share a table and for specialty dining, your alone unless you pe-find a dinner companion for that meal.

Roll call is a great way to start chatting with people off of your cruise now so you may have some "Cruise buddy's" before your cruise.

If you seek them out there are going to be plenty of opportunities to meet other solo cruisers.

Be sure to sign up for the “roll call” threads on the forum for your particular ship and sailing date and you can introduce yourself now to many other cruisers who will be on board at the same time!

Someone I know took this photo. He said it was taken early on debarkation morning.

Most cruise lines will ask if you want to share a table.

Thanks for the information. As I was traveling with my family, I was never asked that question in the main dining room. Kristi

I think most cruise lines have singles meet and greet events on their daily schedules. On the other hand perhaps that persons family chose to eat in the buffet or have room service and so they chose to eat alone.

I remember one one morning Pam and I decided to try breakfast in the main dining room on one of our cruises rather than the buffet. When we got there the maitre d’ asked if we wanted to sit by ourselves or with others. We chose to sit with others and had a wonderful breakfast with 6 other cruisers at a large table. Some of them were by themselves either because their families were still asleep or otherwise.
