Bound to happen sooner or later ... was just a matter of time

The start of steerage vs first class on mainstream cruise ships. More reason to book suits and cruise within the cruise options for those that want to pay.

This is the start .. see who else does or does not jump onto this bandwagon.

Even with "post pandemic limited cabin service" as recently as this month (12/2022) on HAL, our extra beds (Pullman and sleeper sofa) were stowed away each AM and pulled back out each PM by cabin stewards.

I honestly have no idea how many times the SRA comes during the day for RCI...We're usually out of the room 8-5, and then 630-0200...

Yeah, no surprise or shock when I read that article.
It was a bit of a downer on our CCL cruise this past March. We had a 4-person balcony cabin with an upper Pullman bed. The Pullman was pulled down the first night and stayed down, thus preventing the use of the lower sofa for the entire cruise. Also, it naturally made the entire cabin feel so much smaller.
On a Disney cruise a few years back the Pullman was stowed away every morning so we could enjoy the full space of the cabin during the day. It was only re-deployed during the evening "turn down". I wonder if that is still the way they're doing it? I think they had better for what they charge for a cruise.
I think almost all (except the very high end) will eventually phase it out for everything except suites.

Definitely gonna miss those evening turn downs.

Sadly, Carnival was already doing this. It was such a pleasant surprise when on the Sky Princess to have service twice a day. It's so true that cruising isn't what it once was. The question becomes, is it still an option we prefer? In our case, most likely, yes!

Interesting article.
