After cruise excursion in Seattle (my flight leaves at Midnight)

Booked on NCL Bliss for 6/4/22. This is also the first time I’m using the cruise line to book my flight. I’ll be flying from the east coast. The flight going isn’t bad, but the return flight is a red eye and leaves at 11:55 pm. This gives me a good 8+ hours to explore Seattle. Most of the city tours are 3-4 hours. They also start around 10:am with designated departure points. My concern is we are stuck with our luggage all day. Any recommendations for how to spend the day and luggage not be a problem. The earliest you can check luggage at the airport is 4 hours prior to your flight. Thinking about calling NCL to change my flight. Maybe, I’ll stick to booking my own flights in the future. With the current pilot shortage, we were thinking about going a day early. The flight going to Seattle doesn’t provide much flexibility. Thanks for any assistance.

We learned long ago that letting others book our flights made them either too early in the morning, too late at night and/or too many stops. Hope you get to enjoy Seattle during your long wait.

I totally agree. Too much linked to this name to change it now.

Redskins ? I think you mean Commanders. Hmmm, now that I wrote it, it’s really a crappy name.

Thank you for the advice, however, we are stuck now. I will never again use the cruise line to book my flight. Contacted NCL to inquire about getting the return flight changed. They made it very clear once the flight is booked, they don’t make changes. After pressing because of how unreasonable a midnight flight after a cruise would be, the representative agreed to submit a change request to see if it would be approved. I recommended a better flight time on the same airline and the rep told me they don’t have access to all the flights for a specific airline. They only have a limited inventory. As for the arrival flight, you’re right, because we have connecting flights, any problem could delay our arrival. I generally book straight through flights. I don’t know if this is the norm when using cruise lines to book a flight, I know I’m not willing to be this stressed before my cruise every again. I did find out that if NCL is not willing to make the change, Seattle offers a free option to check your luggage from the ship to the airport its final destination. Luggage free means we are free to enjoy the day. I was so looking forward to this trip before we learned the flight details. Hopefully all will go well.

I would try to book a flight a day early. The week of my 13th birthday, we almost missed the ship. We booked the flight through the cruise company , and (through no fault of the cruise company), a few crew members forgot their passports and couldn't fly us to Aruba. We were supposed to set sail at 4PM and didn't even get into the port until 4AM the next day. The cruise line held the ship but told us if we didn't arrive by 5AM that we would have make arrangements for flights to our next port of call (St. Thomas) ON OUR DIME and meet the ship there.

Thanks so much. I also just realized we prepaid for the airport transfer with NCL. Need to see if they will refund that money.

Seattle has a program to check your luggage on the ship. You'll be free from luggage until you arrive at your destination. There is plenty to do and see in walking distance or a short taxi ride from the port, Taxis from the port to the airport charge a flat rate, $40 in 2017, it may have gone up.
