2-Way Radios on board

We are going on a cruise with the family at Christmas this year to the Eastern Caribbean. Since we won't have cell service, we were thinking about getting 2-way radios. Has anyone used these on board to keep in contact? What has your experience been with them (good or bad)? We were just trying to think of a way to keep in contact with the teenagers so they don't have to stick with us. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I think on Disney they are only free if you have a child under the age of 5 in a kids club. Thats how it was when we sailed the Dream.
IF your cruising with Disney, they provide cell phones free to you.
We used 2-way radios last December on a cruise because we were with a big group. if you're on a lower level of the ship it probably won't work (ours didn't). On open decks and higher levels we had no problem.
We have used them on a few cruises and it has worked out great. It does depend on the ship you are going on. I will be sailing on the Allure next and have been told that the ship is too big and most of them will not work. But they do rent cell phones on that ship for $17 for the week. (Just don't loose it) so I'm curious to see how that works :)
