Royal Caribbean Begins Construction on Third Icon Class Ship
This week, Royal Caribbean started construction on its third soon-to-be-named Icon Class ship. The milestone was marked with a keel-laying celebration at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland where the vessel is under construction. The new ship will make its debut in 2026.
At the celebration, the first building block was placed in the dry dock where the record-setting Icon Class ship’s construction will take shape. The keel (known as the backbone of a ship) is what sits at the bottom and center of a ship’s hull.
The Royal Caribbean and Meyer Turku teams that will bring the new ship to life placed a layer of freshly minted coins before the massive steel block was lifted and placed.
This third Icon Class ship will follow Star of the Seas (debuting in 2025) and Icon of the Seas which debuted to much acclaim earlier this year. The next ship will deliver more of the unmatched combination of experiences of Icon Class vessels.
Royal Caribbean has already announced that a fourth Icon Class ship will come out in 2027, and options for a fifth and sixth in the future.
More details about what’s in store for the third Icon Class vacation are soon to come from Royal Caribbean.
