Royal Caribbean International has announced the name and homeport of their fifth ship in the Oasis class, which is comprised of the largest cruise ships in the world.

The vessel will be named Wonder of the Seas, and will find her home in Shanghai, China. Wonder will debut in 2021 and take the title of largest cruise ship in the world away from her sister ship, Symphony of the Seas. She will be the first Oasis class vessel to sail the Asia Pacific.

“Royal Caribbean is known for its innovation and constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, and an Oasis Class ship in China is proof of that,” Royal Caribbean president and CEO Michael Bayley said. “Wonder of the Seas will redefine the ultimate vacation and be revolutionary in her own right, and she marks one of Royal Caribbean’s most exciting chapters to come.”

Yesterday also marked a big milestone for the ship, as her keel was laid at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, marking the start of construction.

Like the other Oasis class ships, Wonder of the Seas will be divided up into seven distinct “neighborhoods” onboard. She will also include an exciting lineup of experiences, dining, and entertainment both familiar and brand-new. More details will be announced by Royal Caribbean in the near future.
