Princess Cruises Announces Two New Venues Coming to Sun Princess

Princess Cruises has shared new details about two additional venues coming to Sun Princess. The groundbreaking Sphere Class vessel will make its official debut in February 2024. 

The 4,300 guest Sun Princess is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship offers the most balconies and sun decks on any Princess Cruises’ ship, guaranteeing great water views for all. Sun Princess will have a number of spectacular onboard amenities and new spaces, including The Dome, a transformational entertainment venue, as well as the Arena, the cruise line’s most technologically advanced theater design. All 2024 cruises on Sun Princess to the Mediterranean, Europe, and the Caribbean are available for booking now. 

Princess Cruises has recently announced details on two new guest offerings coming to Sun Princess - Spellbound by Magic Castle and The Butcher’s Block by Dario. Following is an in-depth look at what each will offer. 

Spellbound by Magic Castle

Princess Cruises will collaborate with famed Hollywood icon set Magic Castle for a new part entertainment, part lounge venue on Sun Princess. This space, named Spellbound by Magic Castle, will be a highly-unique experience that combines magic with the art of mixology. Spellbound will feature a Victorian-inspired theme, with ornate decor designed to capture the essence of Hollywood’s exclusive Magic Castle. 

"We are excited to introduce Spellbound by Magic Castle and take the art of magic around the world aboard the spectacular new Sun Princess,” said John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. "This collaboration with The Magic Castle takes entertainment into new dimensions with an extraordinary experience that combines the allure of magic with the thrill of cruising. Spellbound will become an iconic guest favorite on Sun Princess.” 

To add to the magical illusion, this venue will be located on Sun Princess nestled behind a nondescript door. Inside, guests will enjoy incredible feats of magic from talented magicians, surprises in themed rooms, and theatrically served special cocktails. 

As guests enter Spellbound they first encounter The Music Room area, adorned with eclectic and mystical artifacts. In The Music Room is the vintage-inspired Parlor Bar, featuring the story of Artemis the owl who is revealed through interaction with skilled illusionists. 

Guests next enter the 30-seat Spellbound theater to experience close-up magic performances from world-class magicians performing mind-bending tricks, awe-inspiring illusions, and other mesmerizing acts. 

“We are bringing some of the most authentic aspects of The Magic Castle in Hollywood to Sun Princess, complete with incredible magicians and illusionists, so that Princess guests can experience a taste of the world class magic that is showcased nightly at the Magic Castle,” said Erika Larsen, President of Magic Castle Enterprises. “It's an exciting opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in a magical experience typically reserved exclusively for members and their guests."

The Butcher’s Block by Dario

Sun Princess is set to be home to 29 new and signature dining and lounge options. The newest to be announced is The Butcher’s Block by Dario, a new exclusive partnership between Princess Cruises and world famous butcher Dario Cecchini. Cecchini is recognized around the world for his butcher shop and restaurants located in the village of Panzano, Italy, as well as his feature episode on Netflix’s popular “Chef’s Table” show.

The Butcher’s Block by Dario will be located on deck 9 of Sun Princess. The eatery will offer a specialty dining experience featuring large, shared family-style servings of perfectly prepared beef and steak cuts. 

In addition, Sun Princess’ Crown Grill (the signature steakhouse of Princess) will feature a refined menu designed by Cecchini. One highlight will be the "Bistecca Alla Fiorentina," a distinctive Florentine Steak prepared with the bone, sourced directly from the Antica Macelleria Cecchini butcher shop in Italy.

Other specialty dining venues that guests can look forward to on Sun Princess include 

Kai Sushi, Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, Umai Teppanyaki, and The Catch by Rudi. Also new for Sun Princess is Horizons, a new three-story main dining room with fantastic wake views, art sculptures, and memorable meals served by a friendly waitstaff.
