Norwegian Cruise Line Takes Delivery of Norwegian Viva
Norwegian Cruise Line today took delivery of its newest ship, Norwegian Viva at the Fincantieri shipyard. The vessel is the second of Norwegian’s Prima class of vessels, and the 19th ship in the cruise line’s fleet.
Ship crew members as well as leadership from Norwegian Cruise Line and Fincantieri were on hand for the official handover of Norwegian Viva at the shipyard in Marghera, Italy.
“Ships as stellar as those of the Prima Class are only possible in collaboration with an incredible shipyard like Fincantieri,” said David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “Delivery marks an important milestone for Norwegian Viva, and we are beyond excited to bring this spectacular ship to life as we welcome guests aboard next week.”
Norwegian Viva will make its maiden voyage next week on August 10, 2023. The ship will sail a series of Mediterranean and Greek Isles throughout the remainder of the summer into the fall. Come December 2023, Norwegian Viva will reposition to San Juan, Puerto Rico sail Caribbean voyages for the winter season. Port calls on these voyages include Tortola, St. John’s, Bridgetown, Castries, Philipsburg, and St. Thomas.
New for Norwegian Viva
Norwegian Viva will offer all the highlights of the Prima class, as debuted last year on Norwegian Prima. The 965 feet long, 143,535 gross-ton vessel has a capacity for 3,100 guests. Norwegian Viva features The Concourse, an outdoor sculpture garden at Ocean Boulevard, the wrap-around boardwalk located mid-ship. The Concourse will include work from six artists that have been featured on previous NCLH ships. Also new for on-ship art is ‘Every Wing Has a Silver Lining’, a 52-foot-long interactive work that will be located at the Metropolitan Bar.
In the entertainment department, guests can enjoy two new experiences. Norwegian Viva will feature the at-sea debut of the Tony Award®-nominated production ‘Beetlejuice’, as well as offer a new immersive game show experience ‘Press Your Luck Live’.
Bookings are open for Norwegian Viva sailings through December 2025.
