New Details Revealed for Celebrity Beyond

Today, Celebrity Cruises announced new features of the Celebrity Beyond, the third ship of the line’s innovative Edge-Series. The vessel was designed to ‘create a new world of luxury’ and will include numerous reimagined spaces that are sure to defy guest’s expectations. Celebrity Beyond is slated to debut in April 2022.

"Celebrity Beyond shatters any and every preconceived notion of the cruising experience. This exquisite ship offers a journey at the intersection of elegance and approachability filled with what's important to our guests today: forward-thinking design, culinary excellence, unparalleled well-being and incomparable service."

According to the line, the ship was assembled by a “dream team of modern lifestyle icons to bring to life extraordinary experiences that allow guests to connect with each other, the sea, and their journey”. Designers included multi-award-winning British designer Kelly Hoppen CBE, celebrated American designer Nate Berkus, and lauded Paris-based design firm Jouin Manku. 

Celebrity Beyond will build upon the new features and design introduced by its predecessors in the Edge-Series, Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge. Venues, activities, and designs on Beyond are set to include the following. 

Reimagined Retreat Area

Celebrity’s onboard ‘resort within a resort’ space, The Retreat, staterooms and outdoor venues on Beyond have all received a new look from famed interior designer Kelly Hoppen CBE. A new, two-story Retreat Sundeck will offer more outdoor space and will feature secluded cabanas, chic new seating areas, additional water features and the exclusive Retreat Bar. The warm and inviting Retreat Lounge will be a new stylish space to unwind. The Retreat’s private restaurant, Luminae, will be located at the front of the ship and offer a daily changing menu. 

Expanded Outdoor Spaces

Tom Wright of WKK, designer of the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, has designed exterior spaces on Celebrity Beyond. Wright’s design both lengthens the ship by 20 meters and raises the ship to 17 decks tall. The main open deck will be 40 percent larger than on previous Edge Series ships and features an enormous living Rooftop Garden that’s perfect for movie watching, outdoor dining and live entertainment. On the Resort Deck, guests will find a 25-yard lap pool surrounded by a terraced pool deck and new sunken seating areas. Wright has also redesigned the Magic Carpet, a tennis-court-sized cantilevered platform that scales the side of the ship and transforms from an open-air lounge or restaurant hovering above the ocean along higher decks to a tender platform for going ashore on lower decks. 

New Dining Venues 

Celebrity Cruises' Edge Series Design Ambassador Nate Berkus led the charge on creating one of the most anticipated venues on Beyond – the Sunset Bar. This chic, outdoor space is a Moroccan-inspired escape that is reminiscent of modern-day Casablanca. Famed Chef Daniel Boulud will make his cruise ship debut with his first fine-dining restaurant at sea, Le Voyage. 

Redesigned Grand Plaza

The new Grand Plaza on Celebrity Beyond was inspired by the piazzas of Italy. The area will span three decks at the center of the ship, larger than any other Grand Plazas on Edge Series vessels, and will be a focal meeting point for guests. The added space allowed designers to move the Martini Bar into the center of the venue as a full, circular bar. Hanging proudly above the new Martini Bar will be the Grand Plaza's iconic chandelier. 

Emphasis on Wellness 

New to Celebrity Beyond are AquaClass SkySuites, an immersive living experience focused on wellness featuring floor-to-ceiling ocean views, private verandas, luxurious bedding and other wellness amenities. Celebrity has partnered with actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow as its new Well-being Advisor. All AquaClass guests across the Celebrity fleet (excluding Galapagos sailings) will receive unique wellness offerings, including fitness kits from Paltrow's modern lifestyle brand goop. Paltrow and her team at goop will also curate onboard wellness programming and participate in the line's new ‘Women in Wellness’ initiative.

Celebrity Beyond will sail her maiden voyage on April 27, 2022 from Southampton, England, on a 10-night Western Europe cruise visiting Bordeaux, France; Lisbon, Portugal; and Seville, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and Barcelona, Spain. The vessel will offer a variety of Mediterranean journeys through early October 2021 when she then heads to the Caribbean.
