Disney Cruise Line Headed to Singapore in 2025
Disney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board have announced they will partner to homeport a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively in Singapore for at least five years, starting in 2025.
This news marks Disney Cruise Line bringing their ‘magical’ cruise vacations to Southeast Asia for the first time. According to an announcement from Disney, Singapore’s strategic location, with world-class air connectivity and port infrastructure, are set to make it a thriving cruise hub.
“This is a very exciting year for The Walt Disney Company — 2023 marks our 100th anniversary,” said Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro. “As part of this, Disney Cruise Line is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion with new ships and new destinations around the world. We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025.”
The new yet-to-be-named Disney Cruise Line ship homeporting in Singapore will feature the signature Disney experience along with the entertainment, dining, and service that sets the cruise line apart. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Disney ship without family-friendly spaces, complete with characters like Captains Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Disney Princesses, and Marvel Super Heroes.
The 208,000 gross-ton ship is to have an estimated passenger capacity of 6,000 with around 2,300 crew members. It is expected to be among the first ships in the industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the lowest-emission fuels available.
Construction will be completed at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany. Management will be done by Meyer Werft, builders of Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, and the two additional Wish-class ships currently under construction.
More details on the ship, maiden voyage, itineraries, and onboard experiences will be announced by Disney Cruise Line at a later date.
