Disney Cruise Line is getting ready to spread the magic a little further for guests with the announcement of a new cruise ship and private destination in the Bahamas. These exciting updates were made as a part of Disney’s D3 Expo.

In 2024, the cruise line will debut its sixth cruise ship, to be named Disney Treasure. The vessel will be among the line’s Wish class, joining sister ship Disney Wish as the second out of three vessels to debut for the line by 2025. Disney Treasure will be powered by liquefied natural gas and offer 1,254 guest rooms.

As a part of the Disney Treasure’s announcement at the D3 Expo, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D'Amaro unveiled the ship announcement via a never-before-seen concept video featuring Peter Pan flying over the vessel to announce the ship's name along with a story of Disney characters on the hunt for adventure.

The design and motif of Disney Treasure will be unlike any other ship in the line’s fleet. The ship has been designed with a “theme of adventure, inspired by Walt Disney's love of exploration.”

Disney Treasure’s Grand Hall will be inspired by the land of Agrabah from ‘Aladdin’, with a design that is based on real-world influences from Asia and Africa. The Disney Cruise Line traditional atrium character statue will feature Aladdin and Jasmine soaring to adventure on the Magic Carpet.

Disney Cruise Line also unveiled a special treat at the D3 Expo - a new private destination in the Bahamas. Located on the island of Eleuthera, the new private area for Disney cruise guests will be called ‘Lighthouse Point’.

This new beach retreat will highlight the area’s natural beauty and the rich cultural heritage of the Bahamas. The destination is being designed with the close work of local artists and advisors.

At Lighthouse Point, guests will enjoy pristine beaches, a recreation center, dining venues, a water playground, and a cultural pavilion. Disney has committed to developing “less than 20 percent of the property; supply 90 percent of the site's power from solar energy; employ sustainable building practices; and donate more than 190 acres of privately owned land to the government.”

Work has already begun for the building of Lighthouse Point. A date for the destination’s opening has yet to be announced by Disney.

Renderings and additional details on Disney Treasure as well as Lighthouse Point will be released by Disney Cruise Line in the upcoming months.
