Carnival to Honor Veterans with Series of Homeport Tributes
Carnival Cruise Line, in partnership with offices of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, will host a series of military tributes on six cruise ships in six homeports during the week leading up to Veterans Day.
In each homeport, local veterans have been invited on board for a special military tribute and a luncheon. Events will kick off this Sunday, November 5, 2023, and run through November 11, 2023.
“We’re so proud to carry more active and retired military service members than any other cruise line, so we wanted to honor our hometown heroes in some of our port communities for Veterans Day this year,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “These tribute events serve as our thanks for the sacrifices made by local veterans, active military personnel, and their families.”
Following is the schedule of events by homeport and Carnival ship:
- Sunday, Nov. 5: Miami – Carnival Horizon
- Sunday, Nov. 5: Tampa – Carnival Paradise
- Monday, Nov. 6: Galveston – Carnival Breeze
- Tuesday, Nov. 7: Long Beach – Carnival Miracle
- Thursday, Nov. 9: New Orleans – Carnival Valor
- Saturday, Nov. 11: Port Canaveral – Mardi Gras
In addition to the military tributes, Carnival Cruise Line will also present a passenger van to each homeport’s local VA office to assist with transportation for programs and services.
Carnival Cruise Line has had a partnership with Operation Homefront to support military families and has held a Military Appreciation Gathering on every cruise since 2016. In 2023, the cruise line anticipates it will host more than 1,500 military gatherings!
Earlier this year, Carnival announced it would introduce a Military Appreciation Day on all sailings in North America, an extension of the cruise line’s Military Appreciation Gathering held on each voyage. Many ships in the line’s fleet also now feature the Heroes Tribute Bar & Lounge, a destination dedicated to serving as a recognition of the sacrifices made by Armed Services personnel and their families.
