Carnival Cruise Line announced its newest cruise ship, Carnival Jubilee, will be delivered to and based out of Galveston starting in 2023. Carnival Jubilee is the third Excel-class ship from the line joining sister ships Mardi Gras, currently sailing from Port Canaveral, and Carnival Celebration, which will be delivered and based in Miami starting late 2022.

The line’s Excel-class ships utilize a liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology platform. The Carnival Corporation pioneered the introduction of LNG fuel in the passenger cruise sector as part of the company’s efforts in sustainability and compliance throughout its global operations.

“Carnival was the first cruise line to offer year-round cruising from Galveston in 2000, and we have continued to grow our presence and support of the Port of Galveston’s expansion, so we are thrilled to bring our brand-new Carnival Jubilee to Texas and the greater southwest region,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “This beautiful, innovative ship will bring an entirely new cruise experience to our guests, and we’ve got some great surprises to fun it up in ways we know they are going to love.”

The new Carnival Jubilee will not be the first ship to bear this name to sail from Galveston. As a part of the line’s ongoing 50th birthday celebrations in 2022, Carnival Cruise line resurrected some of the names of its previous ships - Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration. The original Carnival Celebration was the first year-round vessel to homeport from Galveston in 2000 and was joined by the original Jubilee in 2022. Now 21 years later, the new Carnival Jubilee will make its way to the port.

When complete, Carnival Jubilee will be 182,800 gross tons, with a capacity of 5,400 guests and 1,700 crew. The ship will offer a number of the same amenities as its sister ships, including the BOLT rollercoaster, new dining and cabin options, and a three-deck atrium on the starboard side of the ship that overlooks the ocean and converts to an entertainment venue at night. More specific details of Carnival Jubilee will be shared by the line at a later date.

Carnival Jubilee will offer a range of 7-night Caribbean itineraries. Sailings will open for sale in early 2022.
