Carnival Cruise Line marked a milestone this month of one year back on the high seas since its restart of guest operations in July 2021. Since its resumption, the cruise line has welcomed over three million guests back to its 23 ships in operation.

This past May, Carnival hit the two million guest mark, and in less than 75 days this number has risen to three million (an average of 95,000 guests per week). The cruise line’s parent company Carnival Corporation reports that Carnival ships will reach nearly 110% occupancy this summer.

“Carnival set the pace for the industry as the first major cruise line to return to full guest operations in the U.S., and we continue to lead as we now have welcomed three million guests who have enjoyed much-needed vacations,” said Carnival president Christine Duffy. “The economic benefit to our homeports and destinations is also significant and we are looking forward to restarting cruise operations in Australia this October.”

The cruise line’s five busiest homeports include PortMiami, Port Canaveral, Galveston, Long Beach, and New Orleans. These ports currently account for 77% of all Carnival embarkations with a total count of 2,324,823 guests. PortMiami has been the busiest of all ports for embarkations, with 215 sailings to date. In the past year, Carnival has also homeported ships in Tampa, Mobile, Jacksonville, Baltimore, Norfolk, Seattle, New York City, and San Francisco.

Since restart, Carnival ships have made over 3,000 port-of-call visits at 92 individual ports in 36 countries. The most frequently visited ports include Cozumel (385 calls), Nassau (320 calls), Half Moon Cay (155 calls), Amber Cove, Dominican Republic (159 calls), and Roatan (123 calls).

This time marked Carnival Cruise Line’s largest season in Alaska, with three ships deployed in the Pacific Norwest. Over 100,000 guests are projected to sail in the region this year. The Port of San Francisco was added as the newest seasonal homeport, allowing for more sailings to ‘The Last Frontier’.

Outside the U.S., Carnival Pride has offered itineraries in Europe with stops at 40 popular ports across 17 countries, and embarkations from Barcelona and Dover.

The milestones continue with Carnival Cruise Line celebrating its 50th Birthday this year. The cruise line will mark its celebrations by doing what it does best - sailing more guests around the world.

Five new Carnival ships will join the fleet over the next few years. This November, Costa Luminosa will become Carnival Luminosa and begin sailing from Brisbane. Carnival Celebration will enter the Carnival fleet to begin service from PortMiami in November. 2023 will see the debut of Carnival Jubilee from Galveston. Two more cruise ships will also join the Carnival Cruise Line fleet from sister line Costa Cruises.
