Carnival Cruise Line Announces New Casual Restaurant
The venue, called “Big Chicken,” will be an at-sea version of a restaurant created by the line’s Chief Fun Officer, NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O’Neal. He opened the first land-based Big Chicken in Las Vegas in late October. The menu will include a variety of fried chicken sandwiches, fries and Shaq’s take on other traditional sides — all developed and taste tested by Shaq himself, based on his own recipes. Breakfast will also be offered, with choices like chicken and egg biscuits. Best of all, the venue will be completely free.
Big Chicken will be located aft on the Lido Deck, and will be a counter-service, fast-food type of venue where passengers can place their order at the counter and pick up their food right away. The venue is expected to replace the Seafood Shack.
“As Chief Fun Officer, I want to bring even more fun to every aspect of a Carnival cruise, including what guests eat,” said O’Neal. “Big Chicken has been a dream of mine and now that our land-based restaurant is open, it’s only natural to bring it to sea, as well. I’m really excited that Carnival Radiance guests will be able to enjoy my own delicious creations alongside all the other great food offerings on board.”
Big Chicken is among the several new food and beverage options that will be available on Carnival Radiance when it debuts in 2020. Other offerings include Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, Fahrenheit 555 steakhouse, Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano, and the Caribbean-inspired RedFrog Pub. An expansive new WaterWorks water park will also be added.
