All Norwegian Cruise Line Ships Back in Service

Norwegian Cruise Line is officially celebrating the return of all 17 ships in its fleet! This marks the completion of the cruise line’s ‘Great Cruise Comeback’, with all of its vessels around the world back offering passenger cruises. 

After nearly 500 days of a pause in operations, the first ship to return to sail was Norwegian Jade on July 25, 2021, as it resumed Mediterranean cruises from Athens. Nearly ten months later, the cruise line is fully back in service. 

"This is an incredibly important day in our history and a defining moment for our future,” said Harry Sommer, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. “We are moving full speed ahead, having already welcomed more than half a million guests for an exceptional vacation at sea.”

The last ship to return to service is Norwegian Spirit, fresh from a $100 million extensive bow-to-stern refurbishment. For its first voyage back, Norwegian Spirit is sailing a 12-night South Pacific itinerary, cruising between Papeete (Tahiti) and Honolulu (Hawaii). Port stops include three destinations in French Polynesia (Moorea, Bora Bora, and Raiatea), a Trans-Pacific crossing, and three destinations in Hawaii (Hilo, Kahului, and Nawiliwili). Following two South Pacific cruises, the ship will reposition to Alaska for the summer 2022 season.

In its upgrade, Norwegian Spirit received 14 new venues, cabin upgrades, and enhanced public spaces. In dining, the ship added an additional main dining room, and complimentary eateries Taste, The Local Bar & Grill, Garden Cafe, Great Outdoors Bar, and Waves Pool Bar. The ship also received a revitalization of the Mandara Spa. The venue now features an updated thermal suite and an expanded Pulse Fitness Center. Additionally, the ship now includes a Social Comedy & Night Club, Spinnaker Lounge, and adults-only retreat area Spice H2O.
