Not the best cruise, still in my happy place

Lawrence the CD did a great job. Very energetic. Had a great time as always and really can’t complain.

I’ll start this by saying I didn’t have to cook, clean or work so who am I to complain. That being said here’s my take on the vista. The atrium is dull. The LED funnel is cool but after awhile it kinda reminds me of a lava lamp. Call me old fashioned I guess I like the glass elevators and grand schemes on the conquest ships. Speaking of elevators we found the ones on this ship to be extremely slow. No matter what location you tried to use. We had a cove balcony this time, a first for us, and omg...absolutely loved it. The MDR was delicious. The lido was hit and miss. Guys burgers never disappoint. The steakhouse was fantastic as well. Matt Mitchum the cruise director did a great job and is definitely in a position that fits him well. The liquid lounge seats are small, very few tables and no incline to see over the people in front of you. The shows were just ok. The cast was only on week 2 of their contract so I’ll give them time to work out the bugs. The casino was good just not good to me. While the ship is bigger it seems like the spaces are smaller. The sports bar, piano bar, comedy club etc. there were lots of nooks and places to find and sit and relax on most decks. The electric violin trio was first rate talent. Simply amazing. Serenity deck was awesome, the salad bar they have at lunch is a beautiful spread. The hot tubs could be hotter but it certainly didn’t stop me. All in all had a good time

Carnival Valor

September 2018 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Valor

Easily the most prideful ship in the fleet. Lots of decor representing America and her history. We had a suite (7266) and were treated as such. The food was fantastic, from the steakhouse, MDR, buffet and of course those addictive and delicious guys burgers. Shows were well done. Christine in the piano bar is top notch. The staff in our experience has always been nothing short of perfect. They always smile, always greet you, and go out of their way to make sure our needs were met first. What amazes me is this applies to the smallest of things such as walking down the hallway. They could be carrying a heavy sack full of linens and will step out of their way all the while still holding the bag, and wait for us to pass. No one ever seems to have a bad day. Embarkation was smooth and easy. Debarkation was also easy and smooth. Question....do the pixel guys ever take a bad picture? Bring the package back carnival, my wife has issues picking just a few. TJ the cruise director was mediocre. We didn’t see him around the ship much and times we did we were not impressed. That being said it certainly didn’t ruin our choice to have fun. Our room steward Made, (pronounced ma-day) was absolutely amazing. I asked for ice one time and yet the bucket stayed full. The port of Cozumel was wonderful. We’ve never had issues and love this place. This time we went to mr. sanchos. Highly recommend this place. Again treated like royalty. The port of progresso was just ok. We took a taxi and did a little tour to check out some sights. Did a bit of shopping but we are ok staying on the ship next time. All in all it was a wonderful trip and I’m glad I’ve chosen carnival again.

Cruise tips

Cozumel, Mexico

Went to nachi cocum. Had a great time. Very relaxing as they limit the amount of people in.
