We had a great time!
Norwegian Getaway
Sail date: March 14, 2015
My daughter and I cruised in March. There were plenty of activities on the ship and the crew did everything they could do to make sure the passengers had a great time. The Getaway is beautiful, new, and very clean. We thought the food was excellent, even without paying extra for the higher end restaurants. We found that Savor was the best restaurant with no extra charge. They served items like rack of lamb and beef tenderloin which were delicious. We enjoyed all of the shows, especially Legally Blond, and the magic show. At St. Maarten we went on the excursion to Orient Beach. There was quite a bit of sea weed on that particular day, and the beach is very crowded, but we still had a good time. The lunch spot was unique; open air huts. We loved the champagne catamaran ride to St. John's from St. Thomas. The snorkeling wasn't the greatest, but the crew made sure we had a great time on the sail back; plenty of rum punch! I was nervous after reading some of the reviews about the Atlantis excursion in the Bahamas, but booked it anyway. I am a 57 year old out of shape women and was still able to do the extension walking that the reviews warn about. We loved it there. There is a lot to see and do... swimming at the lagoon or beach (we did the beach day excursion), the aquariums.... even the lobby is something to see.
I would definitely recommend this cruise. We had a balcony room and it was worth the extra cost. There were only two of us in the room and it was roomy enough. They attended to the room at least twice a day, left us fresh ice, and made towel animals which was such a nice extra touch. We didn't want to leave and would love to go again!
Nassau isn't beautiful, but the grounds of the Atlantis on Paradise Island is. We had a great afternoon there. I am a 57 year old out of shape women and was able to do the walking that the reviews warn about.
St. Maarten was nice, but it was our least favorite island. It seemed very dry and not very lush. We went on the Orient Beach excursion. There was a lot of seaweed on the day we went and the beach is very crowded. Get off the bus first if you want to try to get a chair by the water. Lunch was good and in a unique setting of open air huts.
We loved the Champagne Catamaran trip to St. John's, which we thought was the most beautiful island on the trip. The snorkeling wasn't the greatest, but the sail back to St. Thomas was beautiful. The crew was very accommodating and made sure your glass was always full (after snorkeling).

Try Savor for a very nice, no extra charge, restaurant.
