Mariner of the Seas

Mariner of the Seas

Sail date: June 25, 2006

A relaxing vacation!

This was our second voyage on the Mariner of the Seas. This ship offers more amenities than any one person can take in in a normal 7-day cruise. In spite of the very large guest capacity (approximately 3,500 travelers), the ship is very spacious and does not give the traveler the feeling of being in a crowd. The additional dining options (Portofinos, Choppes Grille, etc.) provided a great change (although we were not as impressed with Choppes as we expected). The shows were great, particularly the Ice Show, and once again Royal Caribbean exceeded our expectations.

Cruise tips

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

The tour of St. Maarten/St. Martin was pretty good, and Orient Beach was nice. Family travelers would want to be on the lookout for clothing-optional visitors to the beach.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

St. Thomas has the best shopping. Without a tour, we were able to take a taxi to the ferry, and go over to St. John where we taxied to Trunk Bay. Beaches don't get any better! We also got the best hamberger in a restaurant across from the dock. Unfortunately, we can't remember the name of the place.
