Norwegian Majesty

Norwegian Majesty

Sail date: February 03, 2007

A fantastic first cruise experience!

This was our first cruise, and so we were afraid of being overwhelmed by the size of the ship, getting lost, etc. We needn't have worried! Not only was the Majesty a manageable size to learn, but there were always crew members around who were happy to point us in the direction we wanted to go. The sea days were so much fun, with activities to do, games to play and entertainment to watch. Or, if we preferred, we could sit on the deck and watch the people, and of course EAT!! We'd been told to expect a small stateroom, and I thought I'd get claustrophobic, but it didn't really feel that tiny, even though it was on the inside. The room was well laid out, and there were plenty of places to stash the too-much stuff we had packed.

Cruise tips

Cozumel, Mexico

Even though the weather was pouring rain when we got there, we chose to go ahead and do our excursion, which was snorkeling and then a beach party. Just as we were about halfway to the snorkel site, the weather cleared up and it was nice and warm and sunny! We were really glad we went, as the snorkeling was wonderful! We saw so many fantastic fish and corals! This was the whole reason we went to Cozumel!! We'd been told to do lots of shopping in Cozumel, many bargains, etc. We didn't have time to do much shopping because we ended up having to take tender boats instead of docking at the pier, so we didn't get to do much of that. The few stores we did have time to visit were clearly expecting many cruise boat tourists, and we felt they were pushy and overpriced.

George Town, Grand Cayman

We chose what turned out to be too big of an itinerary. It was the Island Tour and Stingray City. It was too much to do in too short of a time. Then there were people on our bus who insisted on staying too long, and that made us run short to the next activity. If we had it to do over again, we'd have picked a different excursion with less to do. We thought that the "Hell" destination was a waste. The lava formations are interesting, but the little shop in front has a poor selection of expensive junk.

Key West, Florida

Since getting falling-down drunk is not our thing, we weren't impressed with Key West. We walked around, did a little shopping and got a bite to eat. Basically, I couldn't wait to get back on the ship.
