Quantum of the Seas overview

By Cruiseline.com - Updated Mar. 9, 2020

Packed with revolutionary amenities, exotic dining options, and the latest onboard technology, Quantum of the Seas appeals to active travelers who want the ultimate Royal Caribbean cruise experience while they explore popular southeast Asian destinations. As the first of its class, this mega-ship introduced a host of cutting-edge and previously unheard of amenities when it debuted in 2014. Passengers can catch a wave on the FlowRider, take flight in the wind-powered iFLY skydiving simulator, or enjoy family-friendly fun and games in the SeaPlex entertainment center which includes bumper cars, a roller rink, an arcade, and a high-flying circus school.

Whether you want to hit the dance floor, watch a live band, or catch a family-friendly show, Quantum has endless options for entertainment. Royal Caribbean developed three dazzling programs specifically for Quantum of the Seas: the Sonic Odyssey percussion extravaganza, the pop, and jazz-fueled Starwater, and Two70, a futuristic blend of traditional theatrics and music with advanced multimedia technology.

The Quantum of the Seas cruise ship also has a laid-back side. On the North Star observation deck, which is the highest at sea, you can experience 360-degree views from the best seat in the house. The ship’s Solarium offers a tranquil adult-oriented atmosphere exclusively for suite and diamond-level guests, and numerous lounges serve up signature cocktails and relaxed vacation vibes. Dining on Quantum includes Royal Caribbean fan favorites like sushi at Izumi, Tuscan fare at Jamie's Italian by Jamie Oliver, or a prime steak at Chops Grille. Since the ship is primarily aimed towards the Asian market, some options have a distinctly Asian feel, like the authentic hot pot experience at The Solarium Bistro.

Quantum of the Seas itineraries includes 4- to 12-night cruises that depart from Singapore, Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong for destinations across Southeast Asia. Popular ports of call include Phuket, Thailand; Nagasaki, Japan; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Great Alaskan Adventure by mtanis529

Ship: Quantum of the Seas

Great adventure. Great crew/staff. Clean ship. Definitely planning another Alaskan cruise, but will likely go higher (Anchorage, Denali, etc.) and likely a land and sea.

Relaxing Alaskan Cruise Getaway by tuxedoguitar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Quantum of the Seas

Great vacation getaway to Alaska. We had gone on an Alaskan cruise in 2016 and enjoyed it so much that we had to do it again. Staff were excellent. The only shore excursion disappointment was at Icy Straits. We did a river hike to see bears but it rained and they didn't show up. No risk, no reward. We tried new adventures such as tandem kayaking which was fantastic! The guides made it so easy for us. I wish we had more time in Juneau for shopping. We spent all our time hiking and enjoying the mountains and glaciers. No regrets! My wife and I even had a chance to try karaoke with a fantastic band! It was a blast! Highly recommend the cruise.

We made all of our reservations before we left on the cruise which left us more time to enjoy the ships activities rather than waiting on line to go to dinner or shows. The major problem we had was with the website for making these reservations - we had to call Royal Caribbean several times.

Head to the Solarium - it's beautiful, quiet, and feels like a tropical oasis. Also - sign up for iFly and other special amenities as soon as you get on the ship!
