Disney Cruise Line reviews

About Disney Cruise Line

Disney is easily the most expensive of the family-friendly lines, but you get what you pay for: There is no better choice for those traveling with children. As you would expect, both daytime activities (game shows, character appearances, and contests) and nighttime entertainment (first-run movies and live productions) are outstanding and focus on Disney characters. Most staterooms have 1½ baths — a concept Disney pioneered. Best of all, the many adult-only spaces include a pool, a restaurant, and part of the private island.

Why you should sail with Disney Cruise Line - Disney Cruise Line tips

Disney is a beloved, recognized brand around the world, and their cruise line lives up to their high standards in entertainment and guest care. You should consider taking a Disney cruise if you...

  • Have the extra money as Disney costs 2-3 times more than cruises on other mainstream lines
  • Enjoy Disney-style entertainment like stage musicals and character meet-and-greets
  • Love themed events such as Star Wars Day at Sea, Marvel Day at Sea, as well as the Pirates IN the Caribbean fireworks party
  • Are looking for adults-only dining, entertainment, and outdoor space

Expert review of Disney Cruise Line

Best for

Those traveling with young children.

Not for

Since the majority of Disney's passengers are traveling with at least one child, we wonder how comfortable young honeymooners who aren’t true believers would be on these cruise ships.

We love

  • Kids will never have a dull moment: Both daytime activities and nighttime entertainment are outstanding will keep them occupied and happy for the entire cruise.
  • The staterooms are geared towards families: not only are they huge, but most have one-and-a-half baths (a unique feature in the cruise industry) as well as grown-up treats, like Frette linens.
  • No line does a better job of providing baby-friendly amenities, from diapers in the gift shop to drop-off care for infants.
  • The many adults-only spaces include a pool, a restaurant, and part of the private island.
  • Remy, on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, is one of the best French restaurants at sea.
  • Disney created an innovative system that rotates passengers around the different dining rooms, with servers in tow. The result? Your waiter, who knows how you take your coffee, serves you every night.
  • The décor is surprisingly elegant, rather than cartoony.

We could live without

  • Some passengers may miss the casinos. (Disney doesn’t think gambling is appropriate in the family-friendly environment it created.)
  • The fares are significantly higher than those on other family-friendly cruise lines.

Great cabin we had this same room on the Dream loved it. Looks out the back of the ship so great views as you leave all the ports. Verandah is a little smaller than the other verandah's but still plenty of room for all three of us. Our son loved... Read full review
