Excellent to the core. Viking took care of everything. Guide were very good and quite friendly. Our two favorites were Colmar WW2 and Cologne.

Review summary

Since all of my photos are on my Cell Phone, and if I download them to put on this review, I will have to start all over again. Suffice it to say, this trip was all that we expected and more. If we were getting younger instead of older, I think we would do another one somewhere.

Embarkation

Easy and efficient. Cabin was just right. Met some very nice people, even a couple with our same last name.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Awesome. Food was delicious and the presentation was superb. Wait staff extremely friendly. They wanted our experience to be one of greatness.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Two games: One was a music game, and one like Family Feud. Lots of fun.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Had a Glass Blower and a German band/singer. Both were very entertaining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They were amazing. The housekeeper especially. Every time were left our room, it was tidied up by the time we got bad. Wait staff gets a superior as well as the Program Director. Everything as top shelf for us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was top shelf.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Have no complaints at all as to size and ease of movement in the cabin.

Ship tip

Be prepared to walk a lot if you go the excursions.

Ports of call

Basel, Switzerland Did not visit port

We went directly from our hotel in Lucerne to the ship

Breisach Am Rhine, Germany

We did the Colmar WW2 excursion. This was wonderful. Our guide was so reverent about the happenings that took place there. We could feel her spirit. One of our favorites.

Strasbourg, France

Too much talking by the bus guide. The cathedral was magnificent, just what I was looking for.

Mannheim (Heidelberg), Germany

Interesting. Because my wife has difficulty walking we took the easy tour. The guide still thought we could run track I guess. Enjoyed the scenery but not the walking tour

Rudesheim, Germany Did not visit port

Needed a day for resting and relaxation. However the evening entertainment was awesome. This was the glass-blower who demonstrated his trade right on the ship. One of our highlights. Irma even bought a set of earrings.

Koblenz, Germany

Here is where we did the wine tasting in Moselle. This was worth the time. Close-up to the vineyards and a tasting session of different Reiseling wines. Excellent experience.

Cologne, Germany

Our guide was A+. Saw the Cathedral which was breathtaking in itself. We did our own shopping tour and then stayed on the ship for the evening because we do not drink beer and that was the trip for nthe evening.

Kinderdijk, Netherlands

The guide was excellent. To quote my wife" There was not enough time for shopping" However, the tour was very informative and we could see how they adapted to their surroundings. Nice trip

Disembarkation

The process from the ship to the airport was excellent and very easy. At the airport was another story. 3 gate changes, one hour delay in flight to Zurich, just barely made the fight to the USA, but our luggage did not. Got that two days later. In addition, I was a pick pocket victim in the airport.
