Review summary

I expected more from a luxury cruise line that has been around a while. I have taken 8 cruises, all with "all-inclusive" luxury cruise lines. I had hoped this would have been the best based upon ratings and reviews. It was not, unfortunately. The food, entertainment and tours could all be improved given the brand. The jury is out on whether I will book this cruise line again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I found the food lukewarm many times and there was little variety on the breakfast buffet. The dining options are somewhat limited with nothing available after 2:30 until dinner at 6:30. If you have gone out touring you need too have room service or eat while you are out. I also found the food to be somewhat bland, lacking consistent seasoning. The main dining room has a classic menu, that does not change for dinner and a menu that does change each day. The morning buffet area becomes an Italian restaurant for dinner

Onboard Activities

The average age of the voyagers is 70-85 years and the entertainment definitely caters to that demographic.

Service and Staff

Overall the serve was good. We had a butler who was outstanding. The staff was not as attentive as I have experienced on other "luxury" lines.

Cabin / Stateroom

Fantastic, large suite with huge patio/veranda. The layout was excellent with more than enough storage for over-packers like me. The Bose portable speaker was great.

Ship tip

Because of local rules the satellite service went out when we in port. Also, the Internet service is quite iffy. Lastly, the movie selection was not as varied as I have experienced on other luxury cruise lines.

CRUISE KANMON STRAITS, JAPAN

I think all of the excursions are set up so that there is too much down time. So we would be scheduled for 3 hours, for example, and spent a good 45 minutes just waiting around. I think this should definitely be improved by adding additional sites to make the tours fuller.

Busan (Pusan), South Korea

Because we were only there less than a day, we took an independent tour to make sure we saw as much as we could of Busan. It's an amazing city!

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
This was almost the worse part of the experience. Both the disembarkation and the transport from the hotel to the airport were extremely disorganized to the point that it has made me wonder if I would ever travel with them again. Cruise companies are in the "people moving" business and they failed when the disembarkation took place and getting us from the post cruise tour hotel to the airport. They didn't have the luggage out on time, there were confusing directions about which busses to take to continue the tours. And the process of aligning the flights and the busses for transport to the airport was so badly done they had to re-do the assignments, and even then there were errors in the flights, times and transport. I was really surprised since they have been around a long time and "moving people" is what they do. It is their mission.
