Review summary

This was a wonderful way to start cruising, on a ship where we felt at home right away. Will we cruise again? Absolutely! And looking forward to the next time, now that we have some cruising experience under the belt.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was all new to us, but very exciting! It took some time to progress through to boarding, but we enjoyed every step of the way.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our first meal on board was in the MDR, but that was the one and only time we ate 'formally', so to speak. The range of food available throughout the ship, and especially at our favourite area, the Horizon Court, was amazing. We never tired of the range of food there, but also enjoyed a number of in-room dining experiences, pizza, and a lovely meal at the Sterling Steakhouse.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Some of our other favourite times on board included Movies Under the Stars (which we enjoyed almost every night), the spa and gym (very handy to keep the kilos from rolling on as a result of all that fine food), educational lectures, art auctions, and the Platinum Photo Studio.

Photo Gallery

5 out of 5

Emma from the Platinum Studio did an amazing job of our photo package! We appreciated her professionalism in getting us relaxed and ready for a lovely variety of photos.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We didn’t attend any stage shows but enjoyed the musicians who performed in the Piazza as well as in various locations around the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room service provided by our steward, Jourard, was exceptional. Having the room cleaned and tidied twice daily was a real treat, and his friendly but non-intrusive nature was very much appreciated and just what was needed for the relaxing style holiday we envisaged.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was kept extremely clean, despite it being an older vessel. We were very impressed by the emphasis on hygiene evident, whether that be with the compulsory hand washing with antibacterial hand wash before entering the eating areas, or the encouragement to wipe down gym equipment with alcohol wipes after use.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our stateroom was excellent, located towards the rear of the ship, with very little exterior noise. The balcony was a decent size.

Ports of call

Langkawi (Pulau Langkawi), Malaysia

3 out of 5
We caught a shuttle bus into a large shopping centre, walked around the area, and then headed back to the ship. We weren’t overly impressed by the state of the city.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was very smooth at Singapore Port.
