Review summary

Lovely ship, great service. But few interesting activities and minimalist casino.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the Britannia Club restaurant. Of the 16 cruises I've been, was by far the best food I've ever had on a cruise. The Lido buffet was also the best buffet I've ever experienced on a cruise ship.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Good fitness room and spa. Tiny, almost useless casino (which literally almost no one visited) -- I can't believe Cunard hasn't dealt with this.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Very good live musicians throughout ship, but nightly entertainment weak/boring (as with most cruise ships). Comedian was so bad I have no idea how they hired him. Guest lecturers mixed bag, from cure for insomnia to interesting.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Couldn't be better. Best I've ever experienced on a cruise, especially in the Britannia Club restaurant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Spotless, very comfortable with plenty of seating everywhere, even on deck, and plenty of space even in the Lido buffet. We were told that the cruise was sold out, but it felt half-empty, which speaks volumes to the ship's great design.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were in cabin 8038, a balcony room. Perfectly fine and spacious enough, except for the tiny shower.

Ship tip

Expect weak WiFi which will cost you a LOT to use.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

2 out of 5
Industrial port town.

Stavanger, Norway

3 out of 5
Lovely village, but as with all of Norway somewhat expensive. $10 for a beer.

Flaam, Norway

4 out of 5
Absolutely gorgeous small village at east end of 112 mile fjord. Lots of short hiking trails up hills around town, so beautiful views. Sparkling setting amidst mountains reminds me of Lake Louise in Alberta.

Olden, Norway

2 out of 5
Pretty farming village, but not much to see or do except take local tram to glacier.

Haugesund

3 out of 5
Industrial town, but maintained nicely and with downtown street closed off for walking.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very fast and easy. We were off ship by 8:15am.
