Review summary

Our first cruise with Oceania. Exceptional food. We loved that so much was included - specialty dining (which was like eating in 5-star restaurants) didn't cost extra, bottled water was handed out at every port, espresso drinks and pastries were always available, laundry was included (and if you wanted to do it yourself, it was free). The hands-on cooking classes were fantastic. The lectures were interesting. Afternoon tea with a string quartet was a nice touch. They were serious about keeping us healthy with hand washing and plastic wrap around buffets. We went to ports where norovirus is endemic and to their great credit, no one got sick. Great service, and always with a smile.

Very quick and easy. Tip - keep the receipt from immigration in Santiago!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food on this cruise was amazing! Lobster tails every night at the buffet if you want them. Specialty restaurants are like eating in 5-star restaurants, at no extra charge! We never went to the main dining room. Afternoon tea was very nice.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Hands-on cooking classes were very well done. We really enjoyed them. Spa was excellent - the best part was that no one tried to sell us anything! Very nice fitness center. Interesting lectures.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Not a huge part of the trip for us. Some of the shows were better than others.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, attentive service. No towel animals on this cruise, but very friendly room stewards and wait staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
One of the newer ships we have been on. Elevators took a long time, which was good for us - the food was so good, we were better off taking the stairs. People were constantly disinfecting and cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very comfortable, lots of storage. Nice that they don't allow smoking on the balconies, and enforce it.

Ship tip

Check out afternoon tea. Nice nibbles with a string quartet playing in the background. (you can have a cappuccino if you don't like tea)

We did a third-party excursion - a cooking class. Meh.

Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru Did not visit port

commercial port - none of the excursions interested us.

Manta, Ecuador

We did an interesting excursion - nice hike, learned how they make Panama hats and how they use a mule to extract sugar from sugar cane. Panama hats overpriced!!

Fuerte Amador, Panama

We did the ship's long excursion - very interesting to see how the canal works.

Panama Canal Transit Did not visit port

we couldn't get off

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica Did not visit port

very disappointed the ship could not dock at this port

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We did a third-party zip-line and animal visit. Great to hang out with monkeys and parrots, and cuddle sloths. Zip-lining was great.

Harvest Caye, Belize

Ship's own port. We went on a rafting trip, which was okay, not great. A lot of shopping.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Port done up for cruise guests - lots of shopping. We rented electric bikes from a third party, which was great. Shopping in nearby town was a bit cheaper. Easy to stop for cocktails or massages on the beach.

Cozumel, Mexico

Very nice port. Also attached to a big shopping mall. We did Dophin Discovery (third-party), which was amazing. Highly recommended!

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

Visited relatives instead

Disembarkation

Common area was very crowded. Hard to get out when your color was called. Once out, easy to find luggage and get out.
