Review summary

This was our first cruise on Koningsdam. After reading several reviews, we were a little concerned about how the week on the ship would go. After experiencing Holland America, for the first time, we were quite pleased with the ship, the staff, the food, and the overall experience. Even though the ship was at full capacity, we didn’t feel that the ship was crowded, we did not encounter egregious, long lines in places. It really was incredibly enjoyable.

Food was good. The speciality restaurant Pinnacle Grille was excellent.

We normally don’t do specialty dining, but red wonderful reviews about pinnacle grill. We concur! The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Definitely felt like a step above from the main dining room.

Onboard Activities

Very chill. Shows were great. Theater is amazing. The solarium area was fantastic.

Casino Action

I normally don’t play on ship casinos, but this time I felt like it. The the casino dealers and the casino supervisors were all fantastic. They were incredibly friendly and took time to visit with you during play. Really enjoyed meeting them and spending time there.

Entertainment

The shows were great in the world stage is absolutely amazing. Very technically advanced an enjoyable to watch.

By and large, the staff was excellent. Are waiters in the dining room were excellent, room stewards were excellent, and the other ship personnel that we encountered were fantastic. Everyone was quite friendly and accommodating. And they even learned our names in certain areas that we frequented a lot.

The ship was great. Enjoyable ship. The staff was constantly working on the cleanliness of the common areas which showed. They did an excellent job.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was great. Obviously for a veranda suite it’s on the smaller side, but nevertheless, was enjoyable. The bathroom sink had some staining in it. That was not the problem of the cabin stewards it just looks like it needs to be replaced.
