Review summary

overall very enjoyable and recommended with the reposition. Be prepared for the 6 days of Atlantic crossing. It's a bit boring, but for me, it was excellent boring. Just total relaxing time for someone still working and needing that kind of time. Enjoyed just some personal time and it was great. The active part of the cruise with port calls was really good and the ports and very interesting for food, lifestyle and history.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
There is certainly plenty of food and drink all day, and it's good. In the however category, it's cooked to the lowest diet denominator of a more elderly passenger. So tasty, good, but somewhat bland with no real pizazz. Also surprised the buffet closed at 10pm. Not that you need another meal, but sometimes at midnight after hanging out, having a sweet snack until midnight would be nice

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The casino was mostly dead and the result of terrible winning odds at any table, slot machine, and a huge house take on the poker table. The odds are so in favor of the house, no one wants to play. Spent 4 Football Sundays on board. You can watch 2 game channels in your room, but who wants to be in their room on a cruise. Pick one of the bars and play sports rather than reserve the room all day to play bingo at 3:45 for 45 minutes. They advertise a "cigar lounge". Nope, it's the inside cigarette smokers room. Not a cigar or pipe smoker environment. Ventilation was good, but not with 10 chain smokers in there all day. Seating in the so called lounge was awful, completely worn out, and needed replacement years ago. Don't be fooled like you have a nice cigar and pipe lounge, it's not.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Theater entertainment was good. Musicians around the ship very talented. The Bayou Cafe setup as a jazz bar never had any jazz players. They had movies under the stars at night, but it was cold and windy outside. Could have used the theater to show a few movies when the evening entertainment was not on stage.

Service and Staff

Everyone treats you like the most important person on board.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Design and layout is fine for the size ship of 2,000 passengers. Would like to have a coffee cafe and bakery, but otherwise fine. Starting to show it's age a bit, but well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Upgraded to premium balcony so a little larger balcony and unobstructed view. Very nice and worth it. Everything else is great except the shower, it is small.

Ship tip

Best Coffee on the ship was at Good Spirits Bar on Plaza deck 5. Great espresso drinks, lattes, iced espresso

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
It's Rome, if you can't find something interesting, your in the wrong port.

Malaga, Spain

Enjoyed walking around the city center just off the port. Very nice area to just enjoy the town.

Casablanca, Morocco

What a dump. The only thing about Morocco was going the Casablanca namesake Rick's Cafe. Very cool, like walking in to the movie. However, the food got 3 of us sick in our group and some people from another group we know. So don't eat there.

Funchal, Madeira

Did the jeep tour around the island and that was worth it. Really nice stop

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Disembarked an went to airport, so not much to comment on for the area.

Disembarkation

Well done, but customs (CBP) was slow for the number of passengers, so wait time was over 30 minutes.
