Even though some plans were changed because of coronavirus safety, we still enjoyed ourselves. I was in a group of seven and no one found issue with staff, ship, or iternary change. Vacations are what you make it...enjoy!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We arrived around noon, our temperatures were taken and we were on the ship 30 minutes later. Fast and efficient boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
My family and I all had the deluxe drink package. We had reservations at Giovanni's and Chops Grille. I missed dinner at the steakhouse which I heard was great, Giovanni's was just okay. We ate at Johnny Rockets, which has a small fee to eat as much as you want. The windjammer was your typical buffet food and was just okay, we ate there the first day. I enjoyed food and service in the dining room more. Sorento's pizza is a bit better than the pizza on Carnival; we stopped here quite a bit. The coffee shop offers sandwiches and pastries that are free and very good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I took in a few shows, but I really enjoyed Grease; the singers and dancers did a great job and they reenacted the movie, word for word, song for song. The comedy shows were not good at all, maybe not my type of comedy, but I did chuckle once or twice. It was something to do and others around me seemed to love the show, so try it.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Entertainment on Independence of the Seas was top notch, cant say enough about the professionalism of the musicians, DJs, singers, and dancers. Don't miss the stage shows!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
My room steward (Adi) was great. The staff throughout the ship did their best to look enthusiastic and happy, in light of coronavirus I think they are just tired. I saw populated areas being cleaned constantly, there was someone stationed in every restroom to be cleaned immediately after use. Hand sanitizer stations were everywhere along with someone standing with hand sanitizer to ensure everyone did their part in keeping clean and healthy. I did visit guest services a few times and I was always greeted with a smile.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is easy to navigate and was VERY clean!!!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
My cabin #6400 was AFT, an area that I would not have chosen, but what was left and I wanted to cruise so I took it. It ended up being great because it was low traffic and quiet because of the location. The cabin was clean when we arrived as promised.
Ship tip
Have fun and don't sweat the small stuff!!! Our iternary was changed the day before we left, but our last stop was Perfect Day at Coco Cay, how could I be upset about that?!
We had a little confusion about when and where to pick up purchased alcohol and where to meet if we were keeping our luggage and self assisting, but we were still off the ship ahead of our schedule so no complaints.
