Review summary

We know that some people don’t like Holland America. That said, it was one of the best vacations of our life. So if you go with a good attitude, you will really enjoy yourself. I highly recommend sailing on the Eurodam. If you wind up needing something, and you asked the staff nicely they were more than happy to make sure that your needs were met. I hope that you enjoy Alaska as much as my wife and I did.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Showed up at 12:30 and by 12:55 we were on the ship. I heard some horror stories but for us it went amazing.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Pinnacle Grill and Main Dining Room were extremely good. The wait staff went out of their way to make sure that your experience was truly rememberable. The Lido deck food was fairly good. I would not recommend the scrambled eggs however. I also wish that they would have maybe a snack bar with popcorn or chips for a late night snack.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I highly recommend Biilboard Onboard and I especially recommend BB Kings blues club. The singers were just simply amazing. I also recommend going to some of the talks. The other shows were pretty good as well. Also, we enjoyed the selection of boardgames and shuffleboard and other activities as well.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
See above for a lot of my comments about entertainment. I wish there was some more entertainment for younger children as well.

Children's Programs

We don’t have children so it was impossible to really evaluate.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the wait staff, room steward’s, and other personnel went above and beyond to make sure that your trip was a truly remarkable experience. All but one person smiled and greeted us in the entire ship. Our room stewards especially how they remembered or names and some of what we liked and disliked it was truly amazing.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I wish that there were maybe a few more coffee shops to get coffee if that’s what you wanted. But overall, the ship was extremely clean and extremely well-maintained and clearly marked so that you knew how to navigate through the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin met and exceeded our needs. The bathroom was quite spacious for a balcony room. The balcony was well-maintained and the views of Alaska were stunning. Again, the rooms stewards made the trip exceptional.

Ship tip

If you go on the Eurodam , expect slightly an older crowd. But, this did not detract from our enjoyment of our cruise. Just make sure that on day one you go explore the ship so you’re very familiar with your surroundings. This will make your cruise much more enjoyable.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
I’m biased as this is my home city. Seattle is an amazing place to visit. If you do go, make sure you get to Pike Place market and if you have time to wings over Washington.

Cruise Puget Sound

5 out of 5
For a good view of Seattle, make sure that you go to Deck nine or 10 and look back at Seattle after sailing away. You will be rewarded with a great view.

CRUISE STEPHENS PASSAGE

4 out of 5

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Make sure that you go visit Mendenhall glacier. Also the hike out to the falls is worth the time. Walking around an old Juneau, is a fun experience as well.

Cruise Glacier Bay

4 out of 5
Glacier Bay is simply not to be missed. The only thing is that when we went on our trip, there were a lot of forest fires in the area and that created a lot of Haze and obscured our view. But other than that it was breathtaking.

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Sitka just felt like Alaska. We went to the bear exhibit and we also went to the raptor center. I don’t know if I would pay to go through all the exhibits at the raptor center. Just walking on the trails gave you tons of information at all the interpretive sites. Don’t miss Sitka.

Ketchikan, Alaska

3 out of 5
Ketchikan did not feel like Alaska in a lot of ways. There is a lot of construction going on. And it is really I guess too big to make it feel much like Alaska. We also feel that we didn’t get enough time in port to really rate it well. We did go to the lumberjack show. That was well worth it.

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

Both my wife and I have visited Victoria so many times, that we didn’t feel like we need to visit it again. Also, where the ship docked Was nowhere near Victoria. You have to take a shuttle and it was about 45 minutes to get there. Since the ship was only in Port for four hours, it really wasn’t worth it to go visit again.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We got a late disembarkation time, So that we could leisurely enjoy our morning. If you have the opportunity to to this I recommend that for a smooth ending.
