Review summary

If you are choosing this cruise, consider some important items: It is really hot and humid during this time in Japan and in all the stops of the cruise. We were lucky not to have rainy days during our cruise, but this might be a possibility during these dates. Although you are going to be in the cities during the festivals, the cruise excursions do not have any options to really enjoy them. If this is an important item for you, please make independent arrangements. Although there were some excellent cruise excursions, they are not all the shore excursions available through other sources. Half of the passengers are from Asia and the cruise caters to its Japanese clients.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The embarkation was relatively quick. Checking in through the Princess Medallion App is helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The service in the main dining room is excellent. The quality of the food at specialty restaurants is excellent. The buffet is very good and comparable to other cruise lines in the same price point.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Trivia and other cruise activities.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
There was one local Osaka group that came on the boat for a couple of shows that was superior to the other shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service from the steward and the waiters in the restaurants is what keeps Princess competitive in this price point.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Although the ship has its years in service, its maintenance is excellent and the cleanliness of the entire ship, including the rooms and restrooms makes you enjoy your time on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Excellent size and although it was toward the back of the ship, the location was excellent. Quiet floor and our cabin was always kept very clean.

Ship tip

Take advantage of the specialty restaurants. If you enjoy karaoke, you will have the opportunity to sign your heart out. All other ship activities are comparable to other ships in this price point.

Ports of call

Yokohama (Tokyo), Japan

5 out of 5
Although we did not take advantage of touring the city next to Tokyo, the port facilities were modern and we had an embarkation and disembarkation process with no issues. Transportation choices are also available.

Nagasaki, Japan

5 out of 5
This is more of a historical stop, but our guide made it a worthwhile visit.

SEOGWIPO, JEJU ISLAND, SOUTH KOREA

5 out of 5
Very different than the other cities visited. This island has more of a tropical feel. You do have to choose two things to do in the time you have on the island, because it takes time to move from one to the other. We really enjoyed our volcanic cave tour.

Kobe (Kyoto), Japan

5 out of 5
We were treated to a midnight embarkation, so it gave us more time to enjoy this stop. We took advantage of having a wonderful teppanyaki dinner with very tasty Kobe beef.

Osaka, Japan

5 out of 5
In my opinion, the most beautiful and modern cities we visited apart from Tokyo.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was organized and gave us the option of the time we wanted to disembark. Although the ship needs to turnaround as quickly as posible, we didn't feel rushed in any way.
