Review summary

I am convinced that once you go Crystal, you cannot go back. We are looking to book another Crustal Cruise and want to go to South America, but it looks like that is not on the itinerary for next year. So I guess we have to see what else is available. I do prefer the ship tot he other because of Pulse, for the younger, under 75 year old crowd.

Embarkation

Easy, smooth and professional.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
this is our fifth Crystal Cruise and they just keep getting better.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
the fitness center is great. the pool is lovely. there is nothing out of the ordinary about either.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The DJ in Pulse is great. I love the fact that there is more contemporary music being played in Palm Court. However, overall the entertainment is geared towards those who are 75 plus and like to ball room dance. Although we are "seniors" we still want and enjoy contemporary music and dance.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Fantastic. However, it seems like it took the staff a couple of days to warm up to the audience. The passengers seemed to be little older than I have seen in the past and had more mobility problems. Perhaps this had a bearing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Always clean and neat.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
A couple of times we had to remind the maid to replace toiletries, overall it was just fine.

Ship tip

Be mindful that this is a luxury ship and the passengers are usually 75 years old and older. they have more mobility problems and will take u more time for excursions. the excursions are good, however, because of so much time being taken up with mobility issues, they should be lengthened to enjoy more of the sites and independent shopping and exploration.

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

We arrived three days ahead and truly loved it. We were unable to get the hotel that Crystal had booked due to limited space. Im so glad that we didn't;t go with them. We stayed at the Danieka and it was right on the canal and was terrific.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Taormina, Sicily

Beautiful with the best guide that we had for all of the excursions that we took.

Sorrento, Italy

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

We did na independent exploration and it urned out great. I do think that the cost of the transport into the city and back was very expensive.

Monte Carlo, Monaco

I loved the port but I do not think that an overnight there is satisfying for most. An overnight in Rome would have been better. The only reason to stay overnight is to gamble and let's face it, you can gamble on the ship.

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
Thesis another port where more time would have been preferred. There is so much to see and do. We felt rushed and would have enjoyed a full day and then an overnight and anther full day. Barcelona is magnificent.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
I cannot think the young man enough who helped us walk through the airport with our luggage. I was concerned that it would be an exhausting and negative experience, because th eBarcelona airport is a bear (super long lines and nor real order tot he process). He and Crystal saved the day.
