Review summary

First "real" cruise we have done as we don't count The Disney Cruise 25 years ago (not impressed at all).....Before we left the Serenity we signed up for another future cruise. Crystal cruises was so Over The Top that we will only do High End Cruises!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was so easy....took the Vaporetta to the port and handed off our luggage to the Crystal employees waiting (we got there early) and then sat in the waiting room until our number was called....was met on the ship by a crew member and walked to the check-in desk!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food & drink was fantastic. My spouse is in the Hospitality Industry and is so picky about anything food and drink related! Specialty restaurants were over the top and the main dining room buffet was more than substantial.....Wine choices were fantastic!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We knew going in that our cruise was tailored to the older adult which is exactly what we were looking for....Having said that the fitness room was really nice and they had classes available....we never used the fitness room (and I am an avid cyclist) as we hiked our tails off in every port and didn't need the extra exercise!!!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were pleasantly pleased on the entertainment. You had your choice between the Disco Bar (yes we were there every night and had a blast even when we were the only ones in there), a Comedian (very funny), various singers (amazingly good), magician (really good) and nightly live music in different areas of the ship which we so enjoyed.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on board were there to take care of your every need.....they really worked hard to get to know you and establish a relationship while you were on board....very well trained!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was so clean! We loved the layout as we never felt cramped. Every venue we went to had ample room for us.....

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was small but very well designed....it was spotless when we first got there and the housekeeper did a great job the entire time we were there....

Ship tip

Take advantage of Waterside Restaurant....it's not considered a specialty restaurant so you can eat there every night if you wish....the food is amazing!

Ports of call

Venice, Italy

5 out of 5
This was actually where our cruise began but we arrived in Venice 2 1/2 days early to make sure we had no flight issues and to enjoy Venice. Venice does not disappoint!

Koper, Slovenia

5 out of 5
We actually had a friend pick us up and show us "her country" so we didn't spend much time in the port. We did walk around the tiny town and it is quite lovely!

Split, Croatia

4 out of 5
Did not do an excursion. Very pretty port...did a lot of walking around.

Dubrovnik, Croatia

4 out of 5
No excursion. Dubrovnik is very beautiful and we really enjoyed it but it is getting very commercial due to The Game of Thrones....we would never go there during high season (it was pretty crowded during low season). We are glad we went (for the history)....

Kotor, Montenegro

5 out of 5
We actually picked up an excursion after we got off of the ship. We hired a private driver to show us around. Another beautiful place to visit.....we never get tired of ocean views and historical architecture

Santorini, Greece

Santorini views are spectacular! We were so disappointed in how commercial it is.....Really No excursion. did not enjoy walking thru the town...To many people and to many shops take away from the beauty. We won't be back.

Nafplion (Nauplion), Greece

5 out of 5
Our favorite port by far. We would come back here and stay for several days. The town was beautiful and so were the people.....so enjoyed walking around and seeing the architecture. We walked up to the Fort (yes! All 999 steps) and was amazed by it. So happy both my spouse and I our memorized with history!

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

5 out of 5
No excursion. The port itself was not impressive. However getting out of the port into Athens was! We spent an extra 3 nights after disembarking the ship and are so happy we did. Visited all of the major sites and had some fantastic Greek Food.....

Disembarkation

Amazed how easy it was. The crew does all the work for you. You just walk off of the ship and your bags are waiting for you already checked thru customs!
