Review summary

Never again Costa, after 10 Costa cruises the measure is now full. We were not the only ones, heard several people say: never again Costa. What a disappointment: - Embarkation: 6 hours in the heat, no information what was going on, finally your turn, but sent back for mandatory Corona test (no mention at booking or at the entrance for check-in), again to the counter and then again with difficulty through control. Information / communication well below average. - No welcome on the ship or drink, everything as cheap as possible, nothing extra anywhere. - Most annoying: always long queues in the restaurant on deck-10 and when returning to the ship after an excursion. A couple could never eat together, sometimes it was 30 minutes before you had your food. No self service, all indicate what you wanted. Returning to the ship sometimes half an hour in the blazing sun, always difficult to check at the scanner. - Everything as cheap as possible: design ship, much too small swimming pool (especially for more than 5000 visitors). Not a nice feeling, immediately upon check-in. - Very unfriendly staff, except in the restaurant on deck-3. - Poor management by the supervisors in the self-service restaurant, sometimes walking past 3 times without clearing anything away. They seem to have always been reluctant to work. Some places understaffed, others double occupied, so again bad management. - Theater performances far below standard and sometimes only lasted half an hour. Way too small, to have a seat more than 30 minutes in advance. - Poor management and poor communication and service. - We didn't think much of the captain. At the performance in the theater of all important people (11 people, all Italians), the captain had not spoken a word (so no welcome), served dirty drinks (pure sugar water). Another disappointment. - Many errors in daily information sheet, also too little important information, simply missing. Again poor communication/information here. - Bus transport to the airport could no longer be booked 1 week before disembarkation, even after several attempts and conversations with management, promised but result was "0". Unbelievable, apparently they only have a few buses in Savona. - Labels in restaurant: clearing away while table mates were still eating, sometimes 2 courses served simultaneously. - Pay for everything: ice cream, burgers, certain attractions. - Internet often bad, almost no TV channels (often only 1). - Biggest part of the cruise was waiting/queuing, but that's not what we come for. Positive: elevators, internet support and rooms In 2016 they took away all our acquired Costa points so are now considered newcomers. Despite the fact that we had booked 3x with 8 people (family and friends). Company policy as they sell it, but as a customer we also have our policy, we switch to Royal Caribbean and we stay there. We recommend avoiding Costa and other Italian cruise companies, too many negative reactions (including MSC). Heard a lot: never again MSC, never again Costa.
