Review summary

We enjoyed the experience of seeing this part of the world. Upon arriving at the obviously tired ship, Coral Princess, we decided we would allow the lack of ship maintenance spoil or ruin our cruise. It would be nice if Princess management chooses to contact us directly, regarding the poor shape the Carol Princess is in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffet food in the Horizon Court was marginal in quality. Staff offered exceptional service. Main dining room was semi clean, staff offered good service. Main dining food was OK, nothing exceptional by any means.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Most on board activities were enjoyable, none were exceptionally fantastic. Stretch exercises were a disappointment

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Princess Theatre entertainment was fantastic

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was always exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable and showing that they care with a smile!

Ship Quality

The Coral Princess badly needs refurbishing and a good cleaning. Washing the bird poop from exterior windows in the Horizon Buffet area once during the cruise would have been a nice start. Hand railings on the upper exterior decks were missing in various areas. Many areas of the ship were lacking maintenance, especially on the exterior.

Cabin / Stateroom

For a Mini-Suite cabin we were very disappointed. Carpet needed replacing, a night stand lamp rattled constantly, bathroom needed a deep cleaning, balcony needed cleaning and repainting. Sofa was worn out many cruises ago and quite uncomfortable to set on. Cabin steward chose to smoke in the crew interior area of ship that filtered out into the hallway, which we found disappointing and unpleasant. Cabin had obviously been smoked in on past cruises, we left the balcony door open most of the cruise for fresh air. Upon arriving in our cabin it had a musty damp smell rather than a clean fresh smell, again we left the balcony door open most of the cruise.

Ship tip

Choose another cruise ship that is newer or recently refurbished! The Coral Princess is worn out and obviously Corporate management doesn't care! Captain had very little interaction with us guests on board. Side of ship needed repainting and in several places the paint was literally peeling off the side.

Very enjoyable experience!

Port is dirty, with a pan handler constantly trying to sell you something. Our Shore Excursion, GREENWAY TOURS, was a disappointment. While walking back at the ship I notice the Wheel House (Helm Station) had nice clean windows, yet right about the Horizon Buffet Dining area windows still had the same bird poop on the windows that was there when we embarked on the Coral Princess back in California!

Fort Amador Did not visit port

Didn't care for what we saw from the ship, so elected to stay on board for the day.

Cartagena, Colombia

Glad we visited Cartagena, however we don't need to return any time soon.

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Typical cruise ship port in Florida. Crowded, busy, funneling people around like Livestock in a Coral.

Disembarkation

Treated as if we were livestock in a coral. Crew is bus loading area, moved quite slow, arguing where to park with buses, how to park the buses, when to load buses.
