Review summary

This ranks as one of the best vacations I've taken. The ease of booking, preparation, and the wealth of info provided by your website was great - our friends want to go again - this time to Europe.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
good - there was some confusion with the health statement - it would have been better to have it online before we got to the Port.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The promenade deck was great for walking/ jogging, but it would have been nice to have a deck or area just for those who want to go faster than strolling. The fitness room was well-equipped, and the pools were good.

Entertainment

I did not attend any live shows

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff and service were wonderful - our steward Kanit was attentive and knowledgeable, very friendly and positive all the time. The shop staff were great, very willing to assist and make time for us.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Good overall - as someone who like to exercise, I found that the staircases were well situated and everything was accessible without the elevators. I used those twice - boarding and disembarking only :). Everything was very clean - common restrooms, eating areas, lounges, etc.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were located in the best possible place - deck 12 right across from the midship stairs/ elevators. It was very convenient. The cabin itself was always very clean, and we had plenty of room.

Ship tip

As with any cruise - be open-minded and patient with groups and crowds. It is a big ship, but still an enclosed space with 2,000 people, so be prepared to either wait or go do something else. The fact that there are so many eating choices speaks to this. If you don't want to wait to eat, go to the buffet ! The food there was awesome and the view is great.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Used to live/ work here - didn't need an excursion :)

Oranjestad, Aruba

3 out of 5
I liked this port, but we did not have enough time - half a day isn't enough to explore, shop, etc.

Cartagena, Colombia

4 out of 5
I liked the combination of our excursion - nature cruise through the mangroves followed by a trip to the old city - nice contrast and combination.

Panama Canal Transit

5 out of 5
The Canal is the whole purpose of doing this cruise - amazing feat of engineering, and it doesn't get old (this was our second passage in 20 years). The woman who did the informational commentary over the PA throughout the day was very good - she imparted several tidbits and details about the building of the Canal that made it all the more interesting.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
We did the Cloud Forest walk - great guide, very informative, and we had a very tasty lunch at the end, with great coffee :)

San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua

5 out of 5
Probably the best excursion of the trip - we went by ferry to Ometepe Island and visited a museum/hotel/ranch/farm, then on to another hotel on the lake for yet another great lunch. We had another excellent guide, who knew everything about his country :)

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
We didn't do an excursion, just had a great relaxing time walking around the port, shops and topped it off with margaritas at Senor Frog's - Cabo is very clean, and it was a pleasure walking around a tourist town without being accosted too much (the fishing guys were a little pushy but not obnoxious).

San Francisco, California Did not visit port

This was home for most of my life - didn't need a tour - we flew home soon after disembarking.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was awesome - I have never been through a disembarkation so quickly after being out of country - we were preparing ourselves for an hour or more in customs and the next thing we knew we were on the sidewalk.... lol.
