Review summary

Overall a good cruise on an older ship. However, the buffet is nice but boring and the formal dining is just plain bad. Go for the itinerary as it is hard to create and manage on your own. The ship provides ample time at ports to enjoy and have an adventure.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Everything was efficient but no real welcome. fill out some forms, get in line, pass security and you are on board. Reflected the cruise in general. Run well, but lacking flavor.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet was good, not great. Everything was prepared well and the facilities were clean, but halfway in the cruise, the food became tiresome. The food just lacked flavor. The formal dining had attentive service but terrible food. My fish was dry and over cooked, the "popular" fettuccini is a greasy cheesy mess. The Shrimp cocktail was a cup of 4 tiny rubbery shimp covered in mild cocktail sauce. Blech! It felt like day old food microwaved and presented as a formal dining experience.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Many of the activities were like being on QVC and shopping related. Especially Effy. It was like begin in an infomercial.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The musical entertainment was good, but the best talent was often in the lobby with few places to sit. The production shows and magician were great. The movies were good but the venues poor. The outdoor screen has blown out pixels and is hard to listen to because of it is in the middle of everything. The princess theater screen is something out of a 80's grade school.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My kids rarely went back after the first few days. My teen described the coordinator and the ice breakers as needlessly awkward.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Nice and helpful when approached Otherwise, they stayed out of the way. I was ok with that.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean but showing it's age.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Clean but lacks storage and showing age.

Ship tip

If you like QVC and Old Country Buffet, you will enjoy this cruise. Nevertheless, we on this cruise because the are few alternatives if you want to cover the inside passage with ease. The times in port were also generous. The ports of call are all great and the ship makes it easy/ painless to get off and on.
