Active, interesting trip with varied landscapes and animals. Highly recommend.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Simple. A bus from the airport- a few minutes to the dock and a zodiac ride to the ship. Nothing else needed.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Consistently excellent food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
This is a destination cruise. The primary goal is visiting islands, usually with two landings a day. There is some down time between excursions with some talks or videos to attend during part of that time. Most of us were too tired after dinner to do much more.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Not large, but adequate. The ship is small and we did not expect anything more.

Ship tip

This is a small ship in the Pacific. We did rock a lot, but the wave frequency was slow enough it didn't seem to be a problem for seasickness. I am not aware of anyone who had bad seasickness, but plan of bringing an ear patch if you tend to get sick.

Ports of call

Baltra, Galapagos

Simply airport access. Nothing to see. Airport is comfortable.

Daphne Island, Galapagos

3 out of 5
Did not land. Just circled and had a naturalist explain the island. Frigate birds attacked the ship antennas just above where we were standing.

Puerto Egas, San Salvador, Galapagos

Rabida, Galapagos

Elizabeth Bay, Galapagos

Mangrove swamp access. Lots of sea turtles, penguins, flightless cormorants, Pelicans, and blue footed boobies.

Barren lava fields. Nice stop.

Bartolome Island, San Salvador, Galapagos

Gorgeous view. Fairly long climb to the top.

Las Bachas, Santa Cruz, Galapagos

3 out of 5
Not a lot to see that we hadn't already seen.

North Seymour, Galapagos

5 out of 5
Clearly the highlight of the trip. Amazing number of animals, particularly sea lions, frigates, blue footed boobies, frigates, and iguanas, both marine and land.

Puerto Baquerizo, San Cristobal, Galapagos

Punta Pitt, San Cristobal, Galapagos

5 out of 5
Red footed boobies here. Really did not see anywhere else. Other birds and iguanas and, of course, sea lions.

Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, Galapagos

5 out of 5
Darwin center. Giant tortoises in the wild.

Disembarkation

Simple. Tender to bus and then to airport.
