Review summary

The Edge delivers. Its a new concept that redefines main dining areas, new types of entertainment and an architecture that provides notable private space if you want it. The Retreat Lounge area for suite dwellers is an all inclusive area providing a private pool, hot tub, bar, and pool food/drinks. Great staff look forward to giving you a great vacation experience.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We boarded with suite class which has a separate reception lounge for expedited embarkation and welcome snacks. Most pleasurable boarding we've experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food is a matter of personal preference, but there are great restaurants with high quality food and service throughout ship. There are 4 complementary MDRs plus an very nice buffet - Ocean View cafe. We dined in all, plus Luminae the suite dining room. Found 3-4 MDRs to have food as nice as Luminae. And in some restaurants, I would argue the service was better. All restaurants are trying to meet a "high" bar in quality and service. Specialty restaurants are a notch up from the MDRs because of their unique cuisine offerings.

Magic Carpet Bar

4 out of 5

The Magic Carpet is a covered deck extension that moves between deck 2, 5, 14, 16. It can be used as a bar/lounge on decks 5,14, 16. Its a nice area, but once you've been on it once, its just another deck. It does get very windy, so you won't get a straw, stir stick, or napkin unless you insist. The wind can cause them to cancel dinner on the venue. My opinion - the dinner is overpriced. If you want to enjoy the Magic Carpet buy a few drinks. We did not get to see it used as a tender platform as our Grand Cayman stop was cancelled for weather.

The Martini Bar

4 out of 5

Concept changed from M & S class ships. Its the main attraction, but the actual bar area is smaller than other ships and no longer an "ice" bar. (OK) The bar stools are very uncomfortable and you slide off the front very easily. The bar tenders confirmed there's a problem with the chairs. While the bar area is reduced from M & S class, there is more table seating around the bar. So a net gain in seating, but less at bar.

Eden Bar

3 out of 5

Nice bar, talented bar tenders, but the signature drinks we very expensive and not very good. Tried about 5 different from the menu - all tasted like cough medicine or an oral antibiotic.

Luminare at the Retreat

4 out of 5

Should be a 5, but they missed with our head waiter. Had we kept the waiter we were assigned on day 1, it would be a 5 as there is GREAT staff at the restaurant. Some of the menu items seemed too simple for that restaurant, so on those nights we just went down to a different one if the menu wasn't appealing.

Cosmopolitan Restaurant

3 out of 5

This was the weakest restaurant we visited. Seemed to be noisy. Staff seemed to have issues keeping up. The person serving us wine had an odd way of collecting tables full of sea pass cards and holding onto them until after dinner when you're trying to get out. She must of processed them in 20 card batches.

Cyprus Restaurant

5 out of 5

Med theme - enthusiastic servers and great food.

Eden Café

5 out of 5

Hidden gem for breakfast and lunch. Has an outside terrace if you wish to eat outside. Great sandwiches, salads, and soup. Once people found it, there were lines.

Normandie

5 out of 5

Nice restaurant - nice venue and great service - good food.

Raw on Five

5 out of 5

Very good sushi and sashimi at a great price.

The Club

4 out of 5

A good venue as a bar, dance floor, game shows BUT, they also had performances that could not be seen due to limited visibility on how couches and chairs are arranged in the spaces. Its a 2 story club with a bar. The bar area has couches that when being used, block the shows going. So half the people in the space can see the show, and the other half can only hear whats going on.

Tuscan Restaurant

5 out of 5

Italian themed menu and dining. Very good food and service.

Spa Cafe & Juice Bar

4 out of 5

I like the small plates and health shakes but seemed to be closed at times it should have been open.

Oceanview Café

5 out of 5

I think its the best buffet in the Celebrity fleet. Food was fresh, well presented, and the right temperature.

Mast Grill

4 out of 5

Hotdogs and hamburgers - just fine for what it is.

Café Al Bacio

5 out of 5

Great coffee and desserts. They manned it properly and lines were minimized.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
No toys on the Edge, but loads of activities/games etc. Pools are great as are the bars and clubs.

Eden

5 out of 5

Whimsical "hedonistic" themed restaurants. Live entertainment during dining experience. Acrobats/Gymnasts /Dancers - very talented. I call them the fern people, but they're costumes are like out of the Star Trek "Back to Eden" episode. Food was very good as was service. Believe we had the best wait staff in this restaurant.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Edge offers a new type of entertainment. There are not Broadway like productions, but more artistic venues with singing, dance, acrobatics, and aerial performers. Very entertaining to watch, but its difficult to say whether they're telling a story. First class comedians and musicians also playing throughout the ship.

The Theatre

5 out of 5

Totally unique design for Edge class. Seating surrounds 3/4 of the stage Large format movable effects screens and fully mechanized stage floor with elevators and equipment to support aerial artists.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our steward and butler were a "10". Some restaurants had "5" level waitstaff other restaurants were in the "3-4" level. In fact we felt the waiter we were assigned in Luminae was the weakest in that dining room. But we had others in Luminae that were "10s".

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Revolutionary design. Allows for people to be spread out and entertained in 3 major ship areas so you really don't see crowds unless you're coming out of the theater.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Sky Suite Located between the Magic carpet lift rails. We thought it would be problematic, but turned out to be a great room with large balcony and aft facing window that allowed an unobstructed view down the starboard side of the ship.

Ship tip

If dining at Raw on 5 - recommend the Imperial Tower for an excellent seafood sampling.

Ports of call

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Safe, beautiful port with picturesque buildings and marine structures. Great shops and restaurants.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
Fantastic clear blue water. Great for snorkeling or scuba.

Oranjestad, Aruba

5 out of 5
Toured the whole island on a motorcycle. Fantastic beaches - some with really nice beach resorts to grab food/drink. Some have pools.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
No one wanted to get off. But very easy.
