Review summary

This was our first Celebrity cruise, but won't be our last. We missed out on having an aft balcony (as we had originally booked for the Celebrity Reflection), but are grateful to have had the opportunity to check out the Beyond, which is really a masterpiece of engineering.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Super efficient. From the time we walked into the building at Terminal 18, until we were on the ship, I estimate it was under 15 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The main dining room experience was interesting in that there are four different restaurants from which to choose, each with different decor and type of food. Normandy (the French place) was my favorite, followed by Cosmopolitan (Continental fare), followed by Tuscan (Italian), and Cyprus (Mediterranean) .

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Trivia, trivia, trivia! The Club was the location for most of that sort of thing.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The headline shows (singer, comedian, magician/escape artist) were worth me staying up late to see .

Children's Programs

Not traveling with kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Top notch cabin attendant....wait staff in Cyprus restaurant seemed a bit overwhelmed the night we were there, which is part of the reason I rated it my least favorite. The food was good, though.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is an artistic masterpiece, with an outstanding number of comfortable areas to sit and chat, have a cup of coffee, play some games (we play a lot of Mexican Train dominos) without being overwhelmed by thumping electronica music. Even walking through the casino was not bad, since it was not at all smoky. The worst piece of design on this ship is that the aft starboard corner on Deck 15 has huge, covered seating area, but is a smoking area.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Plenty of room for the two of us. I have never seen so many coathangers in a closet on arrival to a ship cabin. The bathroom was very roomy (and more elegant than the one we have at home). I appreciated being able to control the blinds on the infinite veranda from my phone app, so I could check the room temperature, open/shut the blinds, and turn on/off lights no matter where I was on the ship.

Ship tip

Pack a nice pair of pants and a sport coat, but don't feel the need to get TOO dressed up. It's vacation, after all.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

it was departure/arrival port, and we did not have time for any excursions.

Oranjestad, Aruba

4 out of 5
Town is a pretty far distance from the port. We did not go into town, since our shore excursion (snorkeling) was interrupted when a gentleman had a medical emergency and we had to abort the excursion before we ever made it into the water .

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Beautiful little city, easy to get around by bus....we did not walk all the way into town, but were able to get a freshly baked stroopwaffel near the pier. Had a great snorkeling excursion and catamaran cruise.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
Little Bonaire has grown up since we were there nearly 20 years ago. The ship dock makes all the difference in the world, since we could walk off in the morning, have our coffee while strolling around Kralendijk, and be back on the ship by noon to leave for another shore excursion (a great drift-snorkeling experience over at Klein Bonaire).

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and quick. If only the Southern border to the United States had facial-recognition camera and software.....we did not even have to take out our passports, since Customs/Immigration control uses facial recognition cameras cross-referenced to passport data. It recognized/approved us to pass before we could even get out passports out of our pockets.
