Review summary

It was just ok. Was my 1st cruise and I expected so much more. I probably won't cruise again from this experience. It was husbands 2nd and he was deeply disappointed.

Embarkation

We left port 3 hours late. We weren't told why. We were thinking it was due to the weather in the Caribbean.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was ok. No flavoring at all. The buffets were fine. Nothing to write home about. The Pizza place was the best of the buffet place. The dining hall food was never hot. Just warm. Guy's Burgers and the Catina were great. Definitely get to those, although I thought they closed at weird times. We didn't eat at specialty places. Our friends did the Steakhouse. It was a flat $35 and they LOVED it. You often had to wait a while to get their drinks or food.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pools were TINY! It was hard to get in them without bumping into 16 people on the way in or out. NUTS! The onboard game CLUE - that lasted the entire week - was so not worth it. The prize was "really rubbish". And that came straight out of the mouth of the Tour Director Saffie.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The shows were just ok. Nothing like I thought they would me - no Vegas flare that many people talk about. The comedy club manager and the tour director were fantastic, so was Conner. There were some of the Fun Team that were definitely not fun - namely Zoe. She was really, well, I'll just say different. We enjoyed the Adult scavenger hunt, the love & marriage show and the comedians. The onboard game CLUE - that lasted the entire week - was so not worth it. The prize was "really rubbish". And that came straight out of the mouth of the Tour Director Saffie.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our waiters in the dining room were super fun and knew you by name (Stephens, Memis & Denis). Our steward, Nolito, was just the best!! At the disembarkation meeting, the captain said that they had seen tons of whales and dolphins during the trip and NEVER SAID ANYTHING to the people of the ship. I thought that was crap!

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
It is an old ship and the smallest one in the Carnival fleet. It was super rocky - I don't get sea sick - but you couldn't walk down the hall straight. One night while waiting for the dinner doors to open, EVERYONE (probably 50-60 people) were standing still and just swaying. Even the crew members complained about how rocky the ship was. The ship decor was old and totally designed in the 80s. If you want glam, you won't find it on this ship. The ship was dirty. The windows were constantly dirty.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The "king" bed was 2 twins pushed together and there was a hard thing in the middle of it. It was small, but to be expected. It was nice to have a balcony. I wouldn't do it any other way.

Ship tip

Go to the Skybox for drinks. There's never anyone in there.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland Did not visit port

Grand Turk Island

Turks & Caicos we did an excursion and I recommend it (Home Sweet Home). They pick you up, take to you this house. 2 local ladies cook an all-you-can-eat lunch which was delicious. A bartender for all-you-can-drink drinks made with local rums and they had local beers. A water guys who helped us with cushioned beach chairs, umbrellas, noodles snorkeling gear, etc. And then they took you back to port.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Half Moon Cay was AMAZING. When you get off the doc, just keep walking down the beach. You'll find less people (less kids) and more chairs. If you set near the pirate ship, you can chill to the music. You can rent those shade things, and we did, but it wasn't worth it. We were constantly in the water, eating, or drinking. I wouldn't suggest doing an excursion because the water is so beautiful you will just constantly want to be in it. Also, you can walk up to the stables and see the horses or across the island and see the sting-rays. You have to tender off the boat. So make sure you get your sticker EARLY!! We docked at 9. We couldn't get off the boat until 10:30. We were number 16 for the tenders. :( The only thing that I thought was crappy is that the Cheers! Program didn't apply to the island. And since it's a Carnival OWNED property, it should!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

A crap hole. Totally not close to anything. Even the staffers said this port is crappy. We docked at 7am. 7AM!! Nothing was open, it was not fun. No need to even get off the ship. We definitely think it was a fuel up station and that's why they stop there.

Disembarkation

LONG! We had to be ready to go at 9, but our deck (4) didn't get off the ship until 10:45. Definitely wait up on the Ledo deck (9). The food will be out and there;s coffee.
