Review summary

This cruise was a quick getaway to celebrate a birthday so it was chosen on price. We didn't care where the ship went. Just a few days to chill and enjoy the birthday. This ship did just that.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation went smoothly. A little different than other ships we've sailed on. You don't get your room key until you get to your room. It's in an envelope outside your door.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was okay. Buffet had a decent variety but nothing extraordinary. The dining room service was great. Our server was very attentive to detail. The meals were good but, again, nothing spectacular.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pools were very busy most of the time. The ship could have used another pool but given the size of the ship, that isn't possible. The hot tubs were always busy but the hot tubs in the adult only area were almost always empty.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
No "broadway style" shows on this ship like other ships have but the shows they did have were good. Great comedy show.

Children's Programs

Did not have children sailing with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Cabin steward was very pleasant and attentive. Same with dining room staff. Couldn't have asked for better.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Unlike other ships where you could run/walk on a promenade deck without encountering stairs. this ship didn't have that option. You had to go up and down steps to walk around the ship. I believe Deck 4, where we had muster, could be a deck to walk around the ship without stairs, this deck was not open for access during our cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
When we first entered the cabin, the bathroom had a pungent moldy smell. I really wasn't sure I wanted to stay in that cabin. I went to guest services to tell them about the situation and before I could return to my cabin, someone from housekeeping had inspected the situation. Great service! They sent someone to scrub the entire bathroom and replace the shower curtain. That helped but the odor was still slightly present. Our cabin steward asked us about the odor. When we told him we could still smell something, he came right back with cleaning supplies and cleaned the entire bathroom again. That took care of the odor and the rest of the cruise we could not detect any odor.

Ship tip

If you've never cruised before, you'll have a great time. If you've cruised on other ships, you may find this ship a little small and not as many entertainment areas as other ships. Still a great cruise, though.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
No excursion. Just there to board and disembark the ship.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
Pretty much your typical tourist spot. Lots of shopping. Did not do an excursion.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Good time on Princess Cays. Food was typical burgers, hot dogs, and chicken. One "problem" is the burgers/dogs line was different than the chicken line. If you got in line for a specific food, you couldn't get something in the other line without going back to the line and waiting. I chose burgers but the chicken line had green beans which the burger line did not. If I wanted green beans, I would have had to get back in line for a 15 minute wait just to get green beans. Passed!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Disembarkation went very well. I like their "digital disembarkation" where, if you wanted to take all your luggage with you, you could be the first to get off the ship. Nice option.
