Review summary

Overall the cruise was enjoyable, minus the issues with the kids club and the room condition. We would cruise this ship again but we will not cruise the Bahamas again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The overall embarkation process was easy, we had a passenger in a wheelchair and our guide was very helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food and drinks were good, lines were modest. No issues to report.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Dive-In movies - better selections (some movies were repeated and we would have preferred more comedies).

Children's Programs

My son (11) enjoyed the kid's club. HOWEVER - ON OUR LAST NIGHT ON THE SHIP, HE CHECKED HIMSELF INTO THE KIDS CLUB AT 7:30 FOR KIDS CHOICE AND STAYED UNTIL 10, WHEN WE (PARENTS) NEED TO CHECK HIM INTO THE LATE NIGHT. WHEN WE ARRIVED AT 9:55 WE WERE TOLD THAT HE NEVER CHECKED IN, THAT HE HADN'T BEEN THERE ALL NIGHT. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, OUR HEARTS SANK BECAUSE IT'S BEEN 2 1/2 HOURS AND WE HAD NOT SEEN HIM. HE KNOWS THAT IF HE CHECKS HIMSELF OUT HE NEEDS TO TEXT OR GO RIGHT BACK TO OUR ROOM. IT HAD BEEN 2.5 HOURS AND WE HADN'T HEARD FROM HIM. AFTER RUNNING ALL OVER THE SHIP TO SEE IF HE WAS PLAYING IN THE POOL, OR AT THE 12+ KIDS CLUB OR THE ARCADE - HE WAS NOWHERE. I WENT TO CLIENT SERVICES TO REPORT A MISSING CHILD SINCE 7:30PM WHEN WE LAST SAW HIM. AT THIS TIME, HIS GRANDMA (WHO WENT BACK TO THE ROOM AT 10:00 TO SEE IF HE HAD RETURNED) MESSAGED ME AND SAID HE WAS IN THE ROOM. HE HAD BEEN IN THE CHILD CARE THE WHOLE TIME. BUT THE SYSTEM DID NOT SHOW HIM LOGGED IN EVER (RATHER IT DID, BUT THE WOMAN WORKING THERE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO LOOK DEEPER INTO THE SYSTEM). HE CHECKED HIMSELF OUT AT 9:50 TO BE BACK AT THE ROOM BY 10:00, WE MISSED HIM BY MINUTES. HAD THE STAFF TOLD ME HE CHECKED OUT 5 MIN PRIOR, NO BIG DEAL, WE WOULD HAVE MET HIM BACK IN THE ROOM AS PLANNED. BUT NOW, AS PARENTS, WE'RE THINKING HE HAS BEEN ON HIS OWN SINCE 7:30. PANIC SET IN AND IT PUT A REAL BLACK-CLOUD ON THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE. THIS TYPE OF MISCOMMUNICATION WITH A PARENT WHO IS TRUSTING OF THE KIDS CLUB IS UNACCEPTABLE.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We've cruised previously on ships with the same layout and enjoy them, the weather was very hot and the pools were VERY crowded and water warm. Other than that enjoyed the ship design and cleanliness just fine.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Comfort, size and cleanliness of cabin was just fine and as expected HOWEVER, our AC didn't work the room smelled like sewer. We addressed these issues and were provided a fan. The room temp. was 77 and the sewer smell did not subside. It was too hot out to have the balcony door open for fresh air. Both of our staterooms were impacted so I suspect with was that area of the ship. (other room 8370) This was very disappointing because we had brought our son and mother along for their first cruise.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

No excursion, stayed the night prior to departure at a local hotel. It's not a walkable area, so any activities would have required multiple Ubers. Spent the whole day at the hotel.

Nassau, Bahamas

Our second time to Nassau, prior time was cool and rainy, this time was super hot and humid. We did not do an excursion. I would suggest booking an excursion in Nassau because walking around is not enjoyable.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
This was our favorite day. We booked the Stingray excursion ($50pp). At first, we were very disappointed in the excursion - the Stingrays are 'caged' at the beach, we thought we would take a boat to an area away from the island (similar to other excursion). We were required to wear a life-jacket even though the water was 3' at best - would have been better to have an option because the life jackets were uncomfortable and got in the way of snorkeling. The first 10 mins you're told to 'wonder' - since we're in the small enclosed space, there wasn't much to do. Then it was better, once we started to engage with the stingrays, touching them, holding them and feeding them. Our guide was excellent - nice, funny and engaging with the crowd.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy peasy. We carried off our own luggage, enjoyed breakfast and waited until last call to disembark. Lines were manageable and moved quickly.
