Review summary

Overall this was a great experience for our family of 7. We didn't know what to expect. You literally cannot do everything the ship has to offer during your cruise - 4 days isn't enough. The Liberty staff was superior. We cannot say enough good about the staff.

The whole process was fairly quick. Not much time sitting and waiting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was great and the dining areas were always clean. Guy's Burger Joint was a big hit. Plenty of staff to help.

Onboard Activities

The spa is amazing - many services offered. The pools & slide didn't get used until the last day due to chilly temps and wind. The water slide was a lot of fun. Hot tubs were always crowded and one was closed for most of the sailing. Movie nights weren't that great because of the cold and high winds (not Carnival's fault). I thought the theater shows were really good, the game night was especially fun. We also played jackpot bingo for an extra fee. The 5 & 7 year olds loved the kids club and I thought it was very well run. The arcade is a money magnet and small/crowded. It was too windy to use the mini golf course. The violinists that played each evening were phenomenal. The wait staff also put on a little show two nights at dinner. Honestly I enjoyed getting to know some of the staff the most out of everything. They bent over backwards to make sure our family was happy and having a good time. Wonderful people!

Entertainment

The steel drums got annoying after a while but other than that everything was great. We didn't get a chance to take in a comedy show but the other stage shows that we saw were great. Some amazing talent aboard the ship!

Children's Programs

My 5 and 7 year olds both loved Camp Ocean. They didn't want to leave and when they did, they would ask when they could go back. I only wish we would have utilized it more.

Service and Staff

A-MA-Zing! The staff on the ship blew my mind. Always friendly, always helpful, asking about your day, going above and beyond to make sure you are enjoying yourself. I could not believe all of the hard work and hours they put in. I especially want to mention Team Headwaiter I Made Sukiarta, Team Waiter I Wayan Sueta, and asst. waiter Trilok from the Golden Olympian dining room. We had the any-time dining option but we requested these three every night! They were all so respectful, friendly, and accommodating. It was fun getting to know them and we also enjoyed the dance offs. I would also like to mention Francesca who I believe is the head hostess. Top notch!!! So very attentive. Rica Rose is also a gem. She gave extra attention to our little guy Evan (he says hi!!) and always made a point to talk with us. We got to know Mericris from the breakfast buffet and she was a delight. Donna our state room steward was always so nice and kept our rooms very clean. She always had a smile on her face. We never felt like a number. The Carnival Liberty staff gets a 10 out of 10 from the Elstran family.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
As a first time cruiser, the ship layout was very overwhelming. Perhaps this is common with newbies! Other than feeling lost most of the time, the ship was always clean and you could see staff cleaning somewhere all the time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a nice size and didn't feel overly crowded with two adults and two children. Everything was clean - the shower drain was clogged. The beds & linens were AMAZING. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were. It was nice to have a fridge in the room.

Nassau, Bahamas

I would not go back to this port. It felt unsafe. Lots of locals heckling at you. The resort we utilized for the day was breathtaking. It didn't look like it belonged there. Construction and lots of noise all around when we were at the resort beach. We didn't see any more of the island and we didn't feel comfortable walking off the beaten path.

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
LOVED it. The tendering experience was really cool and the island itself was awesome. Very clean and lots of room on the beach. We never felt crowded. The provided lunch was great (how nice!!) and the staff was very attentive. The kids really enjoyed snorkeling. I would definitely go back to Princess Cays! Good job Carnival!

Disembarkation

It was very slow getting off the ship but this was due to a storm. Definitely not my favorite part of the cruise. It took a while to go through customs too.
