Review summary

A bucket list trip for me. Some worry over length of cruise but is was great. Cruise director was phenomenal with activities and entertainment. Wish there was a place to watch the NBA playoffs except for 1 TV in the pub. Was a surprise to lose an hour almost every day. Loved the Spa ladies! The Elemis Biotec facial is so worth it. These cost more than $200 in nyc.

Easy on in Bayonne. About 15 minutes to get through the scanners and then right on. I was able to set up a remote access to complete school work immediately in the Solarium

Food and Dining

Main dining room Silk, was beautiful. Never waited to be seated for My Time dining even though cruise was full. Very helpful servers and staff. Need to have wines that are listed on the menu available. White wines always unavailable.

Solarium Bistro

Limited breakfast menu but a decent selection with omelets to order. Lunch easy to grab but also limited. Usually a couple of stews, fish and a salad. Dinner you need to reserve which is strange. The maitre D treats it like one of the special restaurants. The apps are the same every night and are nothing special. Grilled vegetables and hummus. There used to be baby lamb chops on the buffet. Now it is one of the entree choices. Entrees need to be ordered with your waiter. Lamb chop seeing is app size. Salmon was excellent. We would place wine order at dinner. Never came. We stopped going here. Windjammer was much better without waiter nonsense. Bar was much better too

Windjammer Marketplace

Never disappointed. Very well run and especially busy! Tables cleared and cleaned continuously no matter how crowded. Mobile coffee refills are nice. Very hardworking and friendly staff at all meals. Excellent bar too. Loved the outdoor seating in the aft. Was our spot for port sail aways.

North Star Bar

Great outdoor bar and bartenders. Always attentive and well stocked. They always had whispering angel rose wine. And great pina coladas and perfect aperol spritz

Jamie's Italian

Well presented cuisine. Wish they had Osso Bucco on the menu like Giovanni’s. The plank is varied and tasty. Loved the ambience. Outdoor covered seating not discovered by us until the end of the cruise. We would have eaten here again. Very attentive servers. Waiter tracked down Whispering Angel rose for us

Delicious menu and well prepared rolls and appetizers. A good deal too if you order a la crate. Professional service with wines available as promised

Onboard Activities

Unbelievable cruise director Joff. Very hands on. Great personality and energy. We had so much to do and that’s what we needed on this long cruise. Historical lecture series on the ports was phenomenal and informative and packed! Should be more than 3. Or repeated. Loved the French lessons! Coronation party was so much fun and was great with so many British passengers. Great party vibe. Loved Dancing with the Stripes as well as Love & MarrieGe game show. We Will Rock You was a fantastic 2 1/2 hour show that was like being on broadway.

As usual balcony cabin. Like the 2 closets and reliable shower. Good to have fresh air.

Ship tip

Solarium loungers have cushions near the windows. We needed to be there at 7:30 to get 2 together

Cherbourg, France

Old time port experience. Depart on a gangway from deck 5 into the old port terminal with wooden and brass fixtures and a slideshow from turn of the century. Nice vibe. Easy walk to town. Great French feel. Wonderful lunch of Moules Normandy with cream and herbs and frites. Hard cider and Muscadet well priced. Ate at one of the places right on the main drag. Nice shopping with genuine French clothing stores and a fromagerie. She sliced my saucisson for me too. We visited the Cite de la Mer on our way back to the boat. The museum is in a historical museum. Had a titanic exhibit small aquarium and a decommissioned submarine to walk through.

Easy port. Walk off to a typical port area with restaurants park and your companies. I had booked independently a whale watch tour but cancelled on us the day before we got to port. Maybe because it was Sunday? Almost everything closed. Found one open restaurant. Grilled meats. Actuall very organized and good meal and pleasant service. WLkable to boat. We needed an hour to eat and walk back

Used this to take a RCC tour to Omaha Beach, the US cemetery and Bayeux to see the tapestry. Tour guide was phenomenal. A professor with PHD in history. He also took us to Caen to see the William the Conqueror sites as well. We were lucky to book this for $169. To do this independently would have cost about $500pp Don’t miss Omaha beach. Truly a moving day. Easier ride from Cherbourg.

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Captain did a 360 in front of State of Liberty since we were leaving port for last time. Wonderful

Gangway at Southampton didn’t work for several hours, jamming everyone up. Taxi line impossible. Walked to train station about 1/2 mile uphill. Our train was on strike. 😕
