Wonderful family vacation. However, I question the RCCL business decision to book nearly 6,000 passengers on a sailing that had the solarium closed until Wednesday and one of the other adult swimming pools closed the entire cruise.

Review summary

Enjoyed the cruise very much. In spite of the poor business decision on the part of RCCL to book nearly 6,000 passengers with the Solarium closed until Wednesday and one of the other adult pools closed entire sailing and the poor condition of the cabins, the staff and crew did a great job.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We dined in the main dining room every night on deck 3 at 7:00PM. Our waiter John and assistant waiter Chrismart (tables 348 and 349) were the best we have every had. John could run the entire dining operation on any ship. Freya at the check in desk is excellent.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
All of the above and all were excellent with the exception of the Solarium and one other pool being closed. There were too many passengers to have these facilities closed.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Mama Mia was awesome again. We saw it last year on the Allure the same week in 2021. It is a fabulous production with many talented performers. The Allure's musicians were also excellent.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The children did not attend the kid's clubs but enjoyed all the activities on the ship.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As prevsiously mentioned, John and Chrismart and Freya in the main dining room deck 3 are simply the best. Our room steward was also excellent (cabin 8294). Bar tenders Roger in Vintages and Barry in the Schooner Bar are amazing. Maynard and a young lady with braces at the Park Cafe are excellent as well.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Layout and design are great. The ship is clean and for the most part well-maintained. However, the beds are worn out, the bedding linens are worn out and the towels and wash cloths need to be replaced. And again, a poor business decision on the part of RCCL to book nearly 6,000 passengers with the Solarium closed and one adult pool closed.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Our room steward kept our cabin clean. The size is OK. As previously mentioned, the beds, sheets and towels need to be replaced. It made the cabin experience like a cheap hotel.

Ship tip

The staff is truly amazing. However, due to the condition of the beds, sheets and towels in the balcony cabins and the obvious need for renovation, I would have to recommend a different RCCL ship.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We did not take an excursion in FLL. The FLL port is the most convenient port since it is so close to the pier.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
No excusion. But we did enjoy the new port development.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
Always a great port of call.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Amazing. Has always been a favorite port of call and continues to get better.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
No excursion as the attractive excursions are too expensive and the downtown area is a bit sketchy.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Walk off disembarkation was more popular than in the past so very crowed but still the best option for disembarking.
