Review summary

Overall, a relaxing Caribbean cruise. Nice balance of quality dining, entertainment, and loads of ship activities. Watching/listening to the on-board bar entertainers/musicians was one of the best things to do at night. Most bars were well attended by a lively group. Lots of energy throughout the cruise. RCL did its best to make it home for the week.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Issue isn't with the staff, they work within the environment they're given. Staff gets 5-stars but the Port Everglades terminal is unimpressive for an Oasis class ship. Its an old-school terminal with lots of chairs. No lounge for suite class or higher loyalty levels, just different group of seats. The process moved well.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Hits and misses. We dined in the Coastal Kitchen for most meals. Very responsive service and the menu hit well every night. Tried 3 specialty restaurants: Chops, Samba (Brazilian steak), and Savor (Mex). All three missed their mark. We had meat at all restaurants, and all were marinated in a heavy brine with some flavors. In our opinion, all the red meats were way too salty. The service was great, and they replaced the salty beef dishes with basic grilled filets were just fine without all the artificial help.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
If you get board, its your own fault. Almost too many activities offered - it would take 2-3 B2B sailings to do everything.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Outstanding - 5 star Aquatheater and ice shows. The main theater performance Mama Mei was underwhelming, not because of the entertainers - they're very talented, but IMO, it was a dumb movie and hence a dumb story line for a theater performance.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Would give 5 stars to all except one on the CK bar waitstaff who just stood in the corner. Best concierge service we've experienced.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
5-stars on clean and maintained. 4 stars because this ship is lacking what the rest of the Oasis fleet have interns of waterslides and upgraded spashpad for the kiddos. This ship is at a clear disadvantage for kids - less toys. But fine for an older demographic who won't care. It really needs to go through amplification.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were impressed with all the storage. So many drawers and so many ended up empty for the cruise. You'd want to have that room on a B2B or ocean crossing. Well maintained, but still the original Oasis decor - needs amplification.

Ship tip

Find the "Sundeck" on the forward port side of Deck 14. Huge deck area the forward part of the ship that no one seems to know is there. Lots of chairs - no people. But it does get really hot - no shade.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

2 out of 5
Awful airport coming and going. Have a goofy rule that you cannot check in your luggage less more than 4 hrs from departure time. Airport can't handle the foot traffic, few dining selections, no lounges yet. I will no longer check bags at that airport and may even just use Miami.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Lots to do but you have to look for it. Charlotte Amalie still has a lot of empty shop space from the pandemic shutdown.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

5 out of 5
Recovering well. Really trying to keep the tourists happy. Lots of great beaches.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
We were still able to wait in our rooms until our number was called. But when we were called, the exit lines were mobbed.
